Da Nang resumes flights to Ahmedabad, India.

(PLVN) - On October 23rd and 24th, the Da Nang City Department of Tourism, in coordination with Vietjet Air, organized the inauguration ceremony for the Da Nang - Ahmedabad (India) route and a program to welcome the flight from Ahmedabad (India) to Da Nang.

On the afternoon of October 23rd, the inauguration ceremony for the Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) flight route took place at the International Departure Terminal of Da Nang International Airport.

With the opening of the Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) route operated by Vietjet Air, it will create favorable conditions to attract tourists from Ahmedabad in particular and Indian tourists in general to experience attractive destinations, enjoy unique cuisine , and experience distinctive tourism products in Da Nang – a leading festival and event destination in Asia.

Da Nang establishes direct flight connections to the Indian tourist market.

In particular, the Da Nang City Department of Tourism, in collaboration with Vietjet Air, invited Miss Universe India 2024 - Rhea Singha and KOLs Ekta Sandhir to stay, experience, and film videos and photo sets promoting Da Nang as a tourist destination.

As part of the program, a famtrip of 20 travel companies and a press trip of 19 journalists from India visited Da Nang to survey tourism, conduct interviews, and produce in-depth articles promoting Da Nang tourism in major Indian newspapers. The delegations will spend four days experiencing Da Nang's signature tourist attractions, including Sun World Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda, Marble Mountains, and Hoi An Ancient Town.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that the opening of the direct flight route between Da Nang and Ahmedabad (India), operated by VietJet Air, is of great significance. It will create favorable conditions to attract and increase international tourists from Ahmedabad in particular and Indian tourists in general, allowing them to experience attractive destinations, enjoy unique cuisine, and experience distinctive tourism products in Da Nang – a leading festival and event destination in Asia.

The Da Nang-Ahmedabad flight route was created not only to meet the growing travel demand between the two countries but also to open up new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economics, education, culture, and technology.

Da Nang is a dynamic city with a strong developing economy, serving as the central region's international gateway to the world. Ahmedabad, a city rich in cultural traditions and a major economic hub of India, will be an attractive destination for tourists and investors.

The establishment of air connections will create favorable conditions for the further development of tourism in Da Nang in the future.

In the first nine months of 2024, the city's tourism industry achieved impressive results with 8.67 million overnight visitors, including over 3.17 million international visitors.

Notably, the number of visitors from the Indian market reached 139,086, an increase of 4.2% compared to the same period in 2023, despite the lack of direct flights from major Indian cities to Da Nang. In 2024, Da Nang also attracted 4 large weddings of Indian couples with over 1,200 guests and 20 MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourist groups from India with approximately 3,000 visitors.

The Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) route is operated with a frequency of 2 round-trip flights per week using Airbus A320 aircraft, with 180 seats per flight.

Ahmedabad is the largest city in the state of Gujarat and the 7th largest metropolitan area in India, with a population of approximately 5.1 million. Ahmedabad is an attractive destination, similar to Da Nang and the Central region of Vietnam due to its unique blend of ancient cultural heritage and modern development. Vietjet's direct flight connection between Da Nang and Ahmedabad will facilitate and promote trade and tourism exchange between the two locations.
