Da Nang prepares conditions to implement the new preschool education program

GD&TĐ - On August 28, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang summarized the 2024-2025 school year and deployed preschool education tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.

The conference had nearly 600 delegates attending from People's Committees of wards, communes, and principals of kindergartens.

In the 2024-2025 school year, preschool education in the old Da Nang city and Quang Nam province achieved many outstanding results.

A solid "base" for universal implementation for 3-5 year olds

The scale of the school and class network has developed strongly. The whole city has 481 kindergartens, including 296 public, 185 non-public, and more than 1,500 independent facilities. Da Nang mobilized 154,000 children to go to school, reaching a rate of 83.9%. The rate of preschool children attending school reached 95.8%. The old city of Da Nang successfully implemented a model of accepting children under 18 months old in a number of public schools.

In implementing management innovation and policy implementation, localities have promptly deployed many resolutions and policies to support children and teachers, especially in industrial parks and disadvantaged areas, with a total implementation cost of more than 67.7 billion VND.

Regarding improving the quality of child care, nutrition and education : 98% of children receive meals at boarding schools, 100% of children receive regular health check-ups; the rate of malnutrition, stunting and overweight has decreased compared to the beginning of the school year; no food poisoning has occurred in preschools.

Preschool education has undergone many innovations. The theme “Building a child-centered preschool” has been widely implemented; many schools apply Montessori, Reggio Emilia, STEM/STEAM methods. Ethnic minority children are enhanced with Vietnamese language, associated with preserving indigenous culture.

Da Nang invested nearly 300 billion VND to renovate and upgrade schools; old Quang Nam built 7 new schools and 3 school locations with nearly 100 billion VND. 31 schools were recognized as meeting national standards during the school year. However, the shortage of teachers, especially in disadvantaged areas, remains a major challenge.

Da Nang maintains universal preschool education for 100% of 5-year-old children, creating a premise to prepare for universalization for 3-5 year-old children according to Resolution 218/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly.

Promoting the Happy School model

Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang, said that in the 2025-2026 school year, the city's preschool education sector will focus on implementing the theme "Happy, innovative and creative schools, improving the quality of care, nurturing and education of children".

In particular, focusing on improving the effectiveness of state management, enhancing autonomy and responsibility in preschool education facilities; ensuring absolute physical and mental safety for children, preventing violence and injuries; improving the quality of health care and nutrition.

Prepare conditions for implementing the new preschool education program; promote innovation in methods, application of information technology and digital transformation in management and education. Encourage socialization, international cooperation, and mobilization of resources for preschool education development; replicate advanced educational models and methods.

Da Nang determined that in addition to preparing good conditions to implement universal preschool education for children aged 3-5, it will maintain and improve the quality of universal education for 5-year-old children. Strengthening Vietnamese for ethnic minority children, ensuring children's rights and gender equality in education.

The city focuses on continuing to improve the capacity of independent teachers and cultural and social officials at the commune and ward levels. Developing the network of schools, teachers and managers, especially in industrial parks and densely populated areas; striving to increase the rate of schools meeting national standards.
