Lao Cai needs more than 1,900 contract teachers for the new school year.

The Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province plans to contract 1,915 teachers for the 2025-2026 school year, reflecting the pressure of a shortage of human resources.

In accordance with Official Letter No. 1638/UBND-NC dated August 27, 2025, from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai announces the need to contract nearly 2,000 teachers for the new school year. This is considered a temporary solution while awaiting official recruitment for specific job positions.

According to the plan, the expected number of contracts includes 242 kindergarten teachers, 532 primary school teachers, 849 secondary school teachers and 292 high school teachers. At the primary school level, the greatest need is for cultural subjects teachers (278), followed by English (124) and Informatics (62). At the secondary school level, many subjects are in short supply such as Math (125), Literature (112), English (92) and Informatics (68). The high school level also needs to supplement Math (51), Literature (44), English (34) and many other subjects.

The teacher shortage poses a major challenge to education in Lao Cai, especially as the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program requires a workforce with diverse expertise. The signing of contracts for nearly 2,000 teachers demonstrates the province's determination to ensure the stability of the education system and meet the learning needs of over 200,000 students in the area.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, applications for contract participation will be accepted at two locations: the Personnel and Organization Department of the Lao Cai Department of Education and Training (1141 Yen Ninh Street, Yen Bai Ward, Lao Cai Province) and the former Office of the Department of Education and Training in Lao Cai (Block IV Headquarters, 30/4 Street, Cam Duong Ward, Lao Cai Province). The application period is divided into two phases: phase 1 from August 28, 2025 to September 10, 2025; phase 2 starting from September 11, 2025.

Teacher contract needs for the 2025-2026 school year in Lao Cai:

• Preschool: 242
• Primary school: 532 (including 278 teachers of general subjects, 124 English, 62 Computer Science, and the rest for other subjects)
• Junior High School: 849 (Mathematics 125, Literature 112, English 92, Informatics 68, and many other subjects)
• High School: 292 (Mathematics 51, Literature 44, English 34, along with science and aptitude subjects)
