The ceremony, held at the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam National Special Historical Site, is an annual event organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to recognize the efforts and achievements of students; to encourage their spirit and to express the trust and expectations of the entire sector in these students who represent the intellectual prowess of the capital city.
At the 2025-2026 National Excellent Student Competition, Hanoi has 247 students participating in 13 subjects. These are the most outstanding students, embodying the intelligence, perseverance, ethics, and unwavering desire for learning of the capital's students. To be included in the official team, they had to overcome many rounds of competition and intense training sessions, demonstrating outstanding abilities and a spirit of persistence and effort.
This year's team comes from 8 high schools in the city, with specialized schools continuing to play a core role, accounting for 95% of the total participating students. In addition, the increasingly active participation of some private schools shows that the movement to cultivate gifted students is gradually spreading evenly throughout the entire system.




Tran The Cuong, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Council, delivered a speech congratulating and encouraging the students.
Based on a carefully selected pool of candidates, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been conducting intensive training since October 16th at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, with the participation of leading experts and experienced teachers in preparing and training gifted students. To date, preparations are largely complete.
Congratulating the 247 students from 13 gifted student teams, Mr. Tran The Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Council - highly appreciated the preparation and organization of the teams' training with renewed enthusiasm and determination. The responsibility of the specialists and teachers, and the close attention to the teams were clearly demonstrated from the planning stage, content, team selection, and training duration.



To help Hanoi students achieve high results, worthy of the capital's education system, Mr. Tran The Cuong hopes that each teacher and each student in the team will continue to improve their knowledge, constantly learn, and strive; have a reasonable study and rest schedule to ensure good health; and at the same time, schools, teachers, and parents need to create favorable conditions so that students have a firm and confident mindset to enter the exam.
“As students from the capital city, the hub of the nation's intellectual elite, carefully selected and trained in the best conditions, we believe the Hanoi gifted student team will achieve positive results in this year's exam. The city leaders, the Department of Education and Training, the school, teachers, and friends all have faith and high expectations in you,” Mr. Tran The Cuong said, expressing his hopes and expectations.





Proud to represent Hanoi students in the competition with students nationwide, Nguyen The Minh, a 12th-grade Chemistry 1 student from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students and a member of the Chemistry team, expressed his gratitude and promised to dedicate all his abilities, intellect, and spirit to achieving the best possible results in this year's competition.
Thanking the leaders of Hanoi city, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, schools, and teachers for their constant attention and close supervision of the team's preparation, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tu - parent of student Nguyen Vu Cam Linh, Literature team member - promised to support and create all conditions for his children to go to the competition with the best health, intelligence, and spirit.
At the meeting, city leaders and the Hanoi Education Department commended and awarded prizes to students and teachers who won medals at national and international competitions in the 2024-2025 school year. These awards were disbursed according to Resolution No. 40/2024/NQ-HĐND of the Hanoi People's Council. The total prize money amounted to over 22 billion VND.
The 2025-2026 National High School Excellent Student Selection Exam will have over 6,700 participants, an increase of 270 compared to the previous year. According to the Ministry of Education and Training 's plan, the exam will take place over two days, December 25th and 26th, in 34 provinces and cities nationwide.
