Faced with the significant shift in the labor market in the high-tech sector, especially semiconductor microchips, the University of Technology and Education - Da Nang University (UTE-UD) has become one of the pioneering institutions in opening new majors, innovating programs, and proactively improving the quality of its teaching staff to anticipate the new wave of human resources.
Open training programs based on market demand.
2024 marked a significant milestone when UTE-UD officially launched its Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design major. In its first year, the new program attracted a large number of applicants, with the highest admission score in the university reaching 23.55 points based on high school exam results. The program admitted 55 students, who are now in their second year. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the university continued to allocate 60 places for the Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design major, achieving 100% enrollment with an admission score of 21.89 points. To date, the program has approximately 120 students enrolled.

Alongside its flagship microchip program, the university maintains training in related fields such as Electronic Engineering Technology and Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering Technology, which were launched in 2018. Each year, these two programs attract approximately 150 students, forming a solid foundation for the university's high-tech workforce ecosystem.
The fields of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering (specializing in Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design), Information Technology; Automotive Engineering; Control and Automation Engineering; and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Technical Education - Da Nang University all have high competition rates, and therefore the admission scores are higher than other training programs at the university.
For the 2025 admissions season, the University of Technical Education - Da Nang University will open a new major in Numerical Design and Simulation in Mechanical Engineering within the Mechanical Engineering Technology field. The shift in trends among large manufacturing companies and corporations in Vietnam's mechanical engineering sector, from importing equipment and machinery to localizing production, demands a workforce capable of performing calculations, design, and numerical simulation before trial manufacturing and large-scale production.
Create a "three-legged" base.
The University of Technology and Education - Da Nang University actively collaborates with microchip businesses, especially in the context of Da Nang's developing semiconductor industry, through participation in joint human resource training programs, sending lecturers and students to participate in intensive courses, and connecting with major corporations such as Synopsys, Intel, and Nvidia to improve quality and ensure students have the skills to meet the practical requirements of businesses in the fields of microchips, semiconductors, and AI.
Recognizing that the teaching staff is a decisive factor in the quality of training, the University of Technical Education - Da Nang University has made longer-term preparations in updating and enhancing the capacity of its lecturers.
Over the past two years, many lecturers have been sent to participate in intensive training courses organized by the city, member universities, and businesses in the field of integrated circuits. Notable examples include the Integrated Circuit Physical Design course organized by Tresemi with 4 lecturers participating; the Basic Integrated Circuit Design course sponsored by NIC with 7 lecturers attending; the Digital Integrated Circuit Design course organized by the city with 5 lecturers participating; the Integrated Circuit Packaging and Testing course taught by the University of Arizona (USA) with 5 lecturers attending; and the integrated circuit design and testing course by Veron with 3 lecturers attending. These activities help lecturers update their in-depth knowledge and keep up with the demands of the rapidly developing semiconductor industry.

According to Master Nguyen Van Thinh, Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Technical Education - Da Nang University: Recently, the university and the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications sent 33 lecturers to participate in the training program for lecturers in integrated circuit design organized by various units and businesses… Currently, the facilities of the university and the department are very complete, meeting the needs of teaching and learning; at the beginning of 2026, specialized equipment for measurement and testing will be transferred to the university by Da Nang University to serve the training of the semiconductor integrated circuit design major.
Along with strengthening the capacity of its staff, the university is simultaneously reviewing and updating its training programs according to the new regulations issued in 2025 by the Ministry of Education and Training . The University of Technical Education – Da Nang University has applied the semiconductor integrated circuit training program standard according to Decision 1314/QD-BGDĐT dated May 13, 2025, and its amendment according to Decision 2101/QD-BGDĐT dated July 22, 2025. Based on this, the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications has finalized a new training program for the 2025 enrollment cohort, ensuring modernity, enhanced practical training, and suitability to the needs of businesses.
With a comprehensive investment strategy, opening new programs aligned with market demand, and meticulously preparing training resources, the University of Technical Education – Da Nang University is gradually asserting its position in the high-tech human resources ecosystem, contributing to supplying engineers for the semiconductor industry – a technology sector considered a pillar of the future digital economy .
With the aim of developing Campus 1 of the University of Technical Education - Da Nang University into a hub for training personnel in packaging and testing in the city center, since 2023, the university has been building a semiconductor integrated circuit and Internet of Things (IoT) system laboratory with a server system, licensed software for training in integrated circuit design, semiconductor chip testing and measurement equipment; and hardware systems for next-generation IoT platforms to enroll students in the semiconductor integrated circuit major.
