Da Nang trains IT students before providing support at the People's Committees of wards and communes.

VHO - On July 30, the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City organized a professional training session for students majoring in Information Technology (IT) before they returned to support work at the People's Committees of wards and communes in the city.

The training session took place directly at the Danang Software Park Hall and connected online to the bridge points at the People's Committees of wards and communes.

The program was attended by students fromFPT University and Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU).

Solving the problem of IT human resource shortage at the grassroots level

Speaking at the training session, Mr. Tran Ngoc Thach - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City said that after more than 1 month of implementing the two-level local government model, many localities in the city are facing difficulties in receiving and handling administrative procedures.

The main reason is that the process of arranging, rotating staff and putting into use new digital platforms encounters obstacles in terms of specialized IT human resources.

Faced with that situation, the city has advocated mobilizing IT students, prioritizing those with permanent residence in the locality, to directly support the People's Committees of wards and communes.

“The Department of Science and Technology has coordinated with local universities to receive final-year IT students. It is expected that in early August 2025, wards and communes will receive the first batch of volunteer students,” said Mr. Thach.

Providing practical knowledge and supporting digital transformation at the grassroots level

The training program is chaired by the Department of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Department of Home Affairs, FPT University and VKU, to help students quickly approach reality and become familiar with the systems and technology platforms that localities are using.

At the training session, students were informed by representatives of the City People's Committee Office, Danang Information and Communications Center, and Smart Information and Monitoring Center about important contents in administrative work at the grassroots level.

The contents include: instructions on receiving and handling administrative procedures; applying IT and digital transformation (DTS) at the People's Committees of wards and communes; handling arising technical errors; operating operating software and online public service systems.

In addition, students are also instructed to support people and businesses in operating IT equipment at the public administration centers at ward and commune levels such as: dialing queue numbers, looking up information, submitting administrative procedures online, signing personal digital signatures, looking up file processing results, and reusing digital documents.

At the training session, students were trained in applying IT and digital transformation in the activities of the People's Committees of wards and communes; handling technical errors; operating operating software, information systems for handling administrative procedures...

In particular, the program also introduces the application of some popular artificial intelligence (AI) tools to more effectively support administrative and office work at the local level.

Sharing with the students, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Tran Ngoc Thach emphasized: “With your youth, dynamism and creativity, you will be the core force, effectively supporting localities in the digital transformation process. We, along with universities and local authorities, pledge to always accompany and support you throughout the process of performing your tasks.”

After the training program, the Department of Science and Technology will continue to compile documents, arrange focal points and a professional support system to promptly answer all questions of students during their work.
