Stranger has entered elementary school suspected of kidnapping student

On December 27, the leader of Mui Ne Ward, Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province, said that the police had tracked down a strange man who approached and was suspected of kidnapping a first-grade student in the schoolyard onto a motorbike, but was stopped by security in time. The police invited the man to clarify the incident and initially identified the suspect as Nguyen Minh Phuong (40 years old, residing in Khanh Hoa).

Previously, on the afternoon of December 25, a stranger wearing a mask, riding a motorbike with license plate 86B1-662.XX approached and talked to PTP, a first-grade student at Mui Ne 2 Primary School, who was sitting in the schoolyard waiting for relatives to pick him up after school.

After a few minutes, this man carried P. onto his motorbike. The school security guard observed that this person had been hanging around in front of the school gate and approaching many students, so he secretly followed them. When he saw the stranger carrying the student onto his motorbike, starting the engine and preparing to leave, the security guard ran to stop the vehicle.

When the school contacted the police, the man sped away. P.’s relatives came to pick him up and said they had not asked anyone to pick him up. The police are currently investigating the incident.

Responding to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters on the morning of December 27, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Long Khanh, Chief of Phan Thiet City Police, said: "The incident showed absolutely no signs of kidnapping students as rumored. It was just that the motorbike taxi driver was asked by the parents to pick up the students, but because he drove around in circles, people were scared and suspected of kidnapping children."
