'Sifting for gold' at the national youth badminton tournament

At Tien Son Sports Palace (Da Nang City), the 2025 National Youth Badminton Championship, Donex tournament, has just taken place, opening an exciting week of competition, lasting from June 22 to 29, 2025.

The tournament is organized by DONEXGroup Joint Stock Company in coordination with the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Vietnam Badminton Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City.

This is an annual tournament within the national badminton competition system, aiming to create a playground for professional training and select potential factors for the national youth team.

In 2025, the tournament will be the largest ever with nearly 700 athletes from 40 sports delegations from provinces, cities and sectors across the country.

Athletes compete in 5 age groups: U.9, U.11, U.13, U.15 and U.17, in singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, in a one-time knockout format. With the careful preparation of facilities by the Organizing Committee and the high level of expertise of the athletes, the tournament will offer the audience top-notch, exciting and attractive matches.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Tan Dat - Vice President of the Vietnam Badminton Federation said: "Badminton is receiving a lot of attention from many localities and units in the country for investment and development. Particularly in Da Nang, the badminton movement has spread widely throughout the city, attracting a large number of athletes from many classes and age groups to participate in training and competition."

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the qualifying matches officially took place in a standard space, the athletes competed with strong spirit and professional performance. Many promising young players performed impressively, promising to create surprises in the next rounds. According to the assessment, this is a tournament with high professional quality, not only helping athletes improve their skills but also providing a basis for localities to evaluate the effectiveness of training young forces. At the same time, the tournament is also an opportunity to discover and nurture the next force for the national team in the near future.
