University admission, dropout, and graduation rates: Which schools have high and which schools have low rates?

According to public information on training enrollment evaluation indicators in annual reports of universities, some schools have an average student enrollment rate of only... over 1% after 3 years, while some schools have over 100%. The rate of students graduating after 2 years compared to the standard training plan is below 50%.

In the 2025 annual report of universities (according to Circular No. 09/2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on regulations on transparency in the activities of educational institutions in the education system), the evaluation indicators on enrollment and training have many surprises. These are the average 3-year enrollment rate, the first-year dropout rate, the dropout rate, the on-time graduation rate, the graduation rate after 2 years compared to the standard training time and the rate of employment in the right field.

Based on data from schools that are publicly available on the website (some schools have not updated, some schools have inaccessible links/files...), it can be seen that the highest average 3-year admission rate, up to more than 100%, belongs to Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (100.8%), Can Tho University of Technology (100.58%) and University of Law - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (100.34%), Duy Tan University (101%).

Schools with scores above 95% include Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy (99.9%), Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture (98.3%), Binh Duong University (98.3%), Foreign Trade University (97.6%), Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (97.03%), Hanoi University of Industry (96.8%), Ho Chi Minh City Banking (96.3%), Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine (96.33).

This rate at Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology is only 42.2%, Phu Xuan University is only 27%. Particularly, Eastern University of Technology has a record low, only 1.08 (?).

There are schools where out of 100 students, 36 drop out.

In the annual report, schools also count the rate of first-year dropouts and dropouts of courses.

Meanwhile, the highest number of students dropped out of Dong A University in the first year, 14.32%, followed by Yersin University at 13.9%, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology at 13.7%, and Tra Vinh University at 10.44%...

Among the schools listed, only Vietnam University of Fine Arts has a first-year dropout rate of 0%.

On-time graduation rate is up to 99.3%

While many schools have low on-time graduation rates, below 50%, Cuu Long University has a rate of up to 99.3%, the highest among universities that publicly disclose information today.

Schools with this rate reaching over 90% include Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy 94.2%; Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy 92.37%; Foreign Trade University 91.7%. Rates above 80% include Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine 89.4%; Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy 85.6%; Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy 85.3%.

Meanwhile, schools with very low on-time graduation rates include Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture 37.1%; Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences 38%; Phu Xuan University 41.8%; Ton Duc Thang University 41.7%... In particular, the graduation rate after 2 years compared to the standard training plan at Eastern International University is only 42.5%; Phu Xuan University 57.2%.

Medical and pharmaceutical students work at the highest level of expertise.

Regarding the rate of graduates working in their field, universities training in the medical and pharmaceutical sector are at the top. These are Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy 99%; Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy 97.3%; Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy 97.2%; Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine 92.5%; Hanoi Medical University 87%; Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy 85.3%.

In the pedagogical sector, this rate is also very high, such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Education 96.21%; Hanoi University of Education 91.4%.
