Ms. Ho Thi Minh Phung, a teacher at the school, said that this morning, 50 staff and teachers were scheduled to come clean up the school after the flood. However, some teachers also had their houses flooded and could not return.
"The flood caused the school to be submerged more than 2 meters deep. Many documents, learning materials and facilities were damaged. Luckily, this morning the soldiers came to help. Yesterday, teachers still had to wade through the water to pull things out, but today the water has completely receded," Ms. Phung shared.

Although the floodwaters have receded, the school area still has no clean water or electricity. To clean the tables and chairs, teachers and soldiers have to use drums to scoop up the remaining water for temporary cleaning. Mud and garbage are gathered into piles and scooped away in the morning.

While the whole country was celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20), teachers at Tran Ba Secondary School were busy fighting the flood, then returning to the school to clean up the mess.
"We really can't think about November 20 anymore. The flood has made us worried about everything: our houses, our schools, and especially our students. We don't know if any of them have been affected or if any of their houses are still flooded," Ms. Phung choked up.
Tran Ba Secondary School currently has 900 students and 50 teachers and staff. In addition to the school, many residential areas and nearby hospitals are still heavily affected by the floods, some are still isolated, and people are in dire need of food supplies.

After cleaning their houses, the teachers immediately went to school to continue cleaning up after the flood.

"Since the 18th, when we received instructions on flood prevention, we have prepared forces ready for rescue. This morning we supported Tran Ba Secondary School, then continued to other locations in Tuy Phuoc commune to help people clean up after the flood," said Major Tinh.
