According to Dr. Ho Thi Hoa, Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention, Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dong Nai province, the Rota vaccine has been included in the Expanded Immunization Program in communes and wards of Binh Phuoc province (old); but communes and wards of Dong Nai (old) have not yet been deployed. According to the roadmap, from the end of 2025 to the beginning of 2026, this vaccine will be deployed to the remaining localities in the whole province.

To facilitate and comply with regulations on administering Rota vaccine to children, CDC Dong Nai has conducted training for regional health centers and commune and ward health stations. "We are waiting for the vaccine to be delivered and will begin administering it to children of the age group. As soon as we receive information that the vaccine has been provided, we will review children of the age group (from 2 to under 6 months old) to make a list for them to be vaccinated," said Dr. Hoa.

Introducing Rota vaccine into the Expanded Immunization Program aims to proactively prevent acute diarrhea caused by Rota virus and protect children's health. Children under 6 months old in Dong Nai province are given 2 doses of vaccine. Dose 1: when the child is 2 months old, dose 2 at least 1 month after the first dose.

This vaccine is produced by the Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (Polyvac, Vietnam) on Vero cells. Rota vaccine is expensive, currently at a high price and is being injected as a service. The Rota vaccine produced in Vietnam costs more than 400,000 VND/dose.
