One of the excerpts that attracted the attention of viewers was Reunion Day (author Thuy Duong, director People's Artist Giang Manh Ha). The story revolves around two prisoners Tai (artist Hoang Linh) and Lanh (artist Hoai Minh). In the prison environment, they became close friends, shared difficulties, and encouraged each other to reform well.
Thanks to their efforts and active participation in camp movements, Tai and Lanh achieved high results and were considered for amnesty and early release from prison. The excerpt spends a lot of time depicting the characters' inner lives, the events that led them astray, and their beliefs and aspirations to rebuild their lives when they return to society.
Excerpt from The Enmity in the Harem (author Le Trung Dung, director People's Artist Giang Manh Ha) takes the audience back in history to the time of King Le Thai Tong. The work recreates the dramatic power struggle in the harem. In it, concubine Nguyen Thi Anh (artist Hong Gam), a beautiful but scheming woman, is always afraid that Prince Bang Co, whom she gave birth to, will lose his position as Crown Prince if concubine Ngoc Dao (artist Sang Sang) gives birth to a son.
The rumors in the palace about the divine dream that foretold good omens for Ngoc Dao made the concubine even more uneasy. From then on, she and the eunuch (artist Dang Duong) plotted to harm her, set up a scapegoat, and framed her to put Ngoc Dao in prison.
With the online screening format, the cai luong excerpts are elaborately staged, using LED screens to help audiences fully enjoy the stage atmosphere right at home. This is also an effort of Dong Nai Art Theater to reach young audiences with modern methods, preserving and spreading the value of traditional cai luong art.
