Le Trung Thao and Binh Tinh received gold medals at the theater festival in China.

Director Le Nguyen Dat happily informed Tuoi Tre Online that the experimental cai luong play Eclipse, directed by him, won four gold medals in China. Among them, Le Trung Thao and Binh Tinh received individual gold medals.

Le Trung Thao's second international gold medal

With this gold medal, Le Trung Thao continues to receive the second international gold medal in the play Eclipse .

Previously, in 2019, director Le Nguyen Dat brought the play Eclipse to participate in the 4th International Experimental Theatre Festival in Hanoi , Le Trung Thao received an individual gold medal.

In Eclipse , Le Trung Thao's role is the central character, very heavy as he has to stand on stage for more than 70 minutes, expressing the mood of an artist passionate about his profession, singing through different roles, from loyal minister, traitor to king.

Since 2019, the play has had many versions. Because of its experimental nature, each time Nguyen Dat directs it, he makes changes. He said he has made more than ten changes, constantly updating it.

From the first production with Le Trung Thao, Hoang Quoc Thanh, Thanh Tay, up to now 6 years, Nhat Thuc has had changes, added actors. For example, there was artist Vu Luan participating, and the recent production had Binh Tinh, Le Hai, Du Bao.

But no matter how much it changes, Le Trung Thao is still the central character. This is also the character that Le Trung Thao admires in his singing career journey.

Le Nguyen Dat "in demand" for experimental plays

In addition to two individual gold medals for Le Trung Thao and Binh Tinh, Nhat Thuc also received a gold medal for the play and a gold medal for excellent director. In this theater week, in addition to Vietnam, there was also the participation of Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and the Philippines.

Eclipse is originally titled Acting Alone by playwright Le Duy Hanh. This year, Le Nguyen Dat is in high demand for experimental plays.

He has just released the play Hon Tho Ngoc (author Le Duy Hanh) produced in 2025. This November, he continues to present the play Son Ha (from the script Hoang Hau Hai Vua by playwright Le Duy Hanh).

The three scripts mentioned above are all famous experimental stage scripts by author Le Duy Hanh, which have stood the test of time and exploited the abilities of the director and actors. Young drama and reformed opera artists often use these scripts to participate in talent competitions.

This time, Le Nguyen Dat wants to breathe new life into scripts that are decades old. Soul of Jade Poetry is a new challenge for Binh Tinh. Meanwhile, Son Ha makes people wait for veteran actress Tuyet Thu to shine.

Hon Tho Ngoc and Son Ha will participate in the International Experimental Theatre Festival in November 2025.
