Cao Van Lau Theater is not unfamiliar to audiences in Ho Chi Minh City, because over the years, artists have performed or participated in Tran Huu Trang and Chuong Vang Vong Co competitions, receiving admiration. This theater is the art unit of the former Bac Lieu province, now merged into Ca Mau but still operating independently, and now "reappears" in the heart of Saigon with a group of young artists, making the audience applaud enthusiastically.
The familiar and famous folk songs, vọng cổ, and excerpts from cải lương such as Cung đàn mới (New Instrument), Sau vương ý nhạc (Sad King's Music), Con mê tình ái (Love Song), Dieu buon phuong nam (Southern Sadness), Em di tren co non (You Walk on the Grass), Dem lanh chua hoang (Lungy Night in the Wilderness Pagoda), Nguoi tinh tren chien tran (Lover on the Battlefield )... were performed with sweet voices such as Meritorious Artist Anh Chang, Lam Minh Nghiem, Hong Nhien, Vinh Son, My Le, Hai Dang, Trung Cuong, Hoang Dung, Khanh Hoa ... They brought with them the saltiness of the ocean and the sincerity of the Southern land, making the city night strangely gentle.

In particular, the program also included Khmer singing and dancing performances that made the audience exclaim with excitement. Because Bac Lieu is a land with a large Khmer community, the government established a Khmer art troupe integrated into the Cao Van Lau Theater. The melodies were so lovely combined with the beautiful traditional Khmer costumes, like sparkling stars dotting the city night. The Khmer songs were also translated into Vietnamese, so the singers sang in both languages, the audience enjoyed the full meaning, truly creating an impressive highlight. Especially singer Danh Suol has a thick, warm, very sweet voice, making many audiences "intoxicated".

The audience was also satisfied with the careful preparation, from the LED screen to the subtitles, suitable scenery for each performance, beautiful costumes for the actors and dance groups, the MC was very good, and especially everyone sang for real, not lip-syncing.
Ms. My Hanh, Deputy Director of Cao Van Lau Theater, said: "The theater has nearly 80 actors, artists, workers, and dance groups, of which more than 50 are on the payroll. Every year, we are given funding to stage two long cai luong plays and Khmer performances, performing for 90 shows. The remaining time, we are free to run more shows, especially priority is given to those who accept shows in Ho Chi Minh City to have more opportunities to learn and practice their skills." Young actor Lam Minh Nghiem is a testament to this policy. He has a handsome appearance, sings and acts well, and is continuously invited by troupes in Ho Chi Minh City.
In fact, this time Cao Van Lau Theater combined performances in Ca Mau Crab Festival held at Thanh Nien Cultural House, to introduce Ca Mau specialties and promote future commercial plans, but at the same time also introduce the cultural and artistic strength of the land at the end of the Fatherland. Thanks to that, the audience has the opportunity to enjoy the strange and lovely flavors of Vietnamese and Khmer traditional art. Many opinions hope that the theater will return to Ho Chi Minh City to "drop" more "beautiful petals" into the space of the city. Deputy Director My Hanh also promised to make plans for the artists to reunite with their fans.
