Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on November 21, fishing boat CM 98939 TS, captained by Mr. Luu Van T. (born in 1984, residing in Phan Ngoc Hien commune, Ca Mau province), was in the process of running to the mainland about 15 nautical miles southeast of Rach Goc estuary (Phan Ngoc Hien commune) when it encountered big waves and strong winds, causing the fishing boat to sink. When the boat sank, all 13 crew members fell into the sea and drifted away.
Immediately after receiving the information, Rach Goc Border Guard Station sent an urgent notice via the communication system to vehicles operating near the above area, requesting support and found 6 crew members.
At the same time, Rach Goc Border Guard Station mobilized 4 fishing boats with registration numbers CM 98988 TS, CM 98907 TS, CM 98994 TS, and CM 99984 TS along with mobile officers and soldiers to go to sea to participate in search and rescue.
At around 9:30 p.m. the same day, the working group rescued the remaining 7 crew members and brought them safely to shore. The health and spirit of the crew members are now stable. The estimated property damage of the sunken fishing boat is nearly 1 billion VND.
