Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on November 21, fishing boat CM 98939 TS, captained by Mr. Luu Van Thang (41 years old), was on its way to the mainland with 13 crew members working offshore.
About 15 nautical miles from Rach Goc estuary (Phan Ngoc Hien commune, Ca Mau ), the fishing boat suddenly encountered big waves and strong winds, causing it to sink. 13 crew members fell into the sea and drifted away.
Rach Goc Border Guard Station received news of the incident and urgently notified via the communication system, requesting ships operating near the area to assist in the search and rescued 6 crew members.
At the same time, the unit also mobilized 4 fishing boats and 3 mobile officers and soldiers to go out to sea to participate in the search and rescue. At about 9:30 p.m. the same day, the working group rescued the remaining 7 crew members and brought them safely to shore.
The health and spirit of the crew members are now stable. The estimated property damage of the sunken fishing boat is about 1 billion VND.
