On November 22, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment coordinated with the authorities of Vu Ninh ward ( Bac Ninh province) to organize a ceremony to recognize 12 ancient trees as Vietnam Heritage Trees at SenNa Health Care Resort.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, Vice Chairwoman of Vu Ninh Ward People's Committee, affirmed that the recognition of the group of 11 elm trees and 1 kapok tree with ages ranging from 200-500 years old as Vietnam Heritage Trees not only recognizes the historical, cultural and environmental values but also the responsibility of the government and people in preserving and promoting these precious values.
Vu Ninh Ward will coordinate with SenNa to implement a plan to care for, protect, promote and integrate the conservation of Heritage Trees with movements to build cultural life, civilized urban areas, and raise community awareness about environmental protection and trees.
Ms. Vu Thien Ha, Director and Founder of SenNa, shared that this is a great honor and also a recognition of the natural value of Bac Ninh.
SenNa was formed with the desire to create a space for people to return to nature, nurture health and regenerate energy. The recognition of 12 ancient trees is a source of encouragement for SenNa to continue to preserve nature and connect more closely with the community as a destination for nurturing health.
Ms. Vu Thien Ha pledged to protect and promote the value of Vietnam Heritage Trees as well as carry out green transformation so that SenNa is always bright-green-clean-beautiful-safe.
Professor-Doctor of Science Dang Huy Huynh, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council, ASEAN Biodiversity Hero affirmed that the recognition of Vietnam Heritage Trees is based on scientific, humanistic, historical and cultural criteria.
The recognition of 11 elm trees and 1 cotton tree at SenNa as Vietnam Heritage Trees is not only a source of happiness for the enterprise but also contributes to the development of eco-tourism, nature conservation and biodiversity, while educating the younger generation about environmental values and traditions.
Currently, the whole country has more than 8,500 trees recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees, distributed in 34 provinces, from high mountain peaks to remote islands; of which, there are three Heritage Trees on Truong Sa Island, demonstrating ecological and historical values, associated with national sovereignty.
The Vietnam Heritage Tree recognition ceremony at SenNa has inspired the community to join hands in preserving trees in particular and biodiversity in general./.
