Strengthening solutions to ensure labor safety

Through inspection, the delegations guided and disciplined enterprises, investors, and contractors to pay attention to and promote occupational safety and health in production and construction to limit occupational accidents.

Improve occupational safety

Last October, the provincial interdisciplinary inspection team chaired by the Department of Home Affairs inspected occupational safety and health at more than 20 enterprises in the fields of production and construction. Specifically: construction works, mineral exploitation, wood production... In addition to recognizing units that have implemented occupational safety and health regulations well, the team discovered limitations and reminded investors and business owners to further improve occupational safety.

During the OSH inspection at Bo Mei Co., Ltd. (Dong Xoai 3 Industrial Park, Binh Phuoc Ward), a 100% Chinese-invested enterprise specializing in the production of wooden furniture for export, the interdisciplinary inspection team enthusiastically guided the enterprise to fully implement OSH regulations. Specifically, the actual inspection at the production workshop showed that although the enterprise had posted a board of working regulations, there were still some limitations such as: lack of labor protection equipment for workers and equipment covering with strict OSH requirements. The team requested the enterprise to immediately overcome the above limitations to ensure a safe working environment for employees.

Ms. Agnes Khoo, Sales Director of Bo Mei Co., Ltd., said: When the delegation came to inspect and pointed out the limitations in ensuring labor safety at the factory, the company took note and will make efforts to overcome them in the coming time. “Recently, the company has promoted propaganda on labor safety for workers; at the same time, implemented many solutions to ensure a safe working environment. The company is committed to reviewing the entire process, enhancing labor safety training and overcoming limitations for sustainable production,” Ms. Khoo shared.

Inspecting the factory construction site of Tianhai Lace VN Co., Ltd. (Phuoc An commune, Dong Nai province), the delegation noted that the construction site had fences, signs, lighting and declared machines and equipment with strict requirements. The delegation requested the investor and contractor to regularly inspect the construction work. In addition, check and cover manholes, install warning signs and remind workers to fully wear personal protective equipment.

Create a safe working environment

Recently, many work accidents have occurred, mainly due to workers lacking protective equipment, violating technical procedures or not being aware of ensuring their own safety. In addition, inspection and supervision work at some enterprises and construction sites has not been carried out regularly and seriously. This issue not only affects the safety of workers but also negatively affects the image and investment environment of the locality.

Through inspection and actual examination, it is shown that enterprises that perform well in occupational safety and health, create a professional working environment, have developed production activities, and workers feel secure and committed. Typically, through inspection at Dong Nai Viet Vinh Shoes Company Limited (Binh Minh commune), the inspection team assessed this as a bright spot in the good implementation of occupational safety and health regulations and needs to be replicated to other units. In particular, the enterprise established a network of safety and hygiene workers with 45 members and has measures to prevent and respond to chemical incidents. In addition, the enterprise also built internal regulations and operating procedures for machines and equipment on safe working measures...

Through the occupational safety and health inspection, the inspection team advised the Provincial People's Committee to synchronously direct the implementation of solutions to ensure occupational safety in all areas, especially propaganda, guidance and training on occupational safety for enterprises. Thereby, helping enterprises better understand the regulations and effectively implement occupational safety and health in the coming time.

Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Dong Nai province Mai Xuan Tuan said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Home Affairs established an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect occupational safety and health at 20 enterprises and production units in the province. The inspection showed that the enterprises have complied well with the labor law. However, there are still some enterprises that do not fully understand the provisions of the law on labor safety. This is the reason why a number of occupational accidents have still occurred in the past time.

According to Mr. Mai Xuan Tuan, ensuring labor safety not only protects the lives and health of workers but also contributes to improving production efficiency, minimizing losses and building a sustainable working environment. However, currently, there are enterprises that only care about production and business, not paying attention to labor safety and providing labor protection equipment for workers. Strictly implementing safety measures will be a prerequisite for enterprises to develop sustainably and build a professional and civilized enterprise image.
