(CLO) On October 27th, the Lau Then Festival – an important cultural and spiritual event embodying the profound traditional values of the Tay ethnic group – took place in Phuong Do commune, Ha Giang city.
The event attracted a large number of locals and tourists, creating a vibrant and colorful cultural space that highlighted the unique cultural heritage of Ha Giang province.
Located in the northern border region, Ha Giang is home to 19 ethnic groups with over 60,000 inhabitants, including more than 16,500 Tay people, accounting for 27% of the population. The Lau Then Festival is a distinctive feature of the Tay people, passed down through many generations.

Symbolizing peace and blessings for all, the festival is an occasion to pray to the "father king" for blessings, favorable weather, bountiful harvests, and a peaceful and prosperous life.
The highlight of the festival is the unique cultural rituals such as offerings, Then singing, and Xoe dance – folk dances performed by local artisans. Accompanied by the sounds of the Tinh lute, gongs, and drums, the rituals recreate a vibrant picture of the rich and traditional spiritual life of the Tay ethnic group.
This is also an opportunity for people to express their reverence to the deities, praying for protection, good fortune, and peace for their families and communities.
Organizing the Then Hot Pot Festival in Ha Giang is not only an effort to preserve cultural heritage, but also a concrete step in implementing Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU of the City Party Committee on developing tourism associated with preserving ethnic identity. This is part of the strategy to make Ha Giang a unique cultural destination, combining ethnic cultural experiences with ecotourism.
Through this event, the Tay people not only affirmed their identity but also fostered national unity, creating a foundation for sustainable socio -economic development.

This year's Lau Then Festival is further enriched with many attractive activities: traditional Then singing and zither playing, demonstrations of making sticky rice cakes using traditional methods, and an exhibition and sales area for typical specialties of Ha Giang.
These experiences not only help tourists learn more about the Tay ethnic culture but also contribute to promoting local products, strengthening community connections, and creating momentum for tourism development.
The Lau Then Festival is not only a cultural event but also a symbol of solidarity and the preservation of the nation's precious heritage. Through these unique activities, Ha Giang is increasingly making a strong mark on the Vietnamese tourism map, bringing visitors to a land rich in tradition and with strong potential for future development.
