Note on early admission method
At this time, most universities have announced their admission methods for 2024. Candidates who register for early admission methods will be notified by the school whether they are eligible for admission or not. To be officially admitted to the school, students must register on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission portal according to regulations. Only then will schools have a database for admission consideration.
MSc. Le Phan Quoc - Deputy Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education said: For early admission, the school has a method of combining academic records with specialized competency assessment test scores, giving priority to admission for specialized class students, students must register between June 1 and June 15.
Last year, many candidates registered for the specialized competency assessment test or the aptitude test but did not register for admission using this method, so they were not considered for admission.
Exam registration and admission registration are two different things. Exam registration is to get exam results, used for admission to schools. But admission registration must still be done. Because the school does not know which majors candidates will register for, what order of wishes. The school's admission registration portal opens on June 1. On June 15, the school will close the registration portal for early admission.
At the University of Transport Technology, early registration for admission using the combined high school transcript admission method is being implemented in the second phase. Registration deadline is June 15. Register online on the school's admission system or submit your application directly.
Candidates will be given priority points for admission based on the academic transcript review method if they meet one of the following conditions: Candidates who won first, second, or third prizes in the provincial/municipal high school excellent student exams in the subjects of Math, Physics, Chemistry, Information Technology, English, and Literature. Candidates who have an international English certificate IELTS ≥ 4.5 (certificate within 24 months from the date of application). Candidates who have achieved excellent student results in 1 semester or more (in semesters of grade 10, grade 11, and semester 1 of grade 12).
Previously, many universities and academies such as: Aviation Academy, Hanoi National University, Danang University of Architecture, Hanoi Law University... also announced the results of the first round of early admission.
Regarding this issue, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of HigherEducation (Ministry of Education and Training) noted: After meeting the conditions for early admission to schools, candidates must still register their admission wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admission Support System and pay the admission fee corresponding to the number of registered wishes to be valid.
The registration period according to the instructions from the Ministry of Education and Training is from July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, 2024. Candidates can register, adjust, and add admission wishes an unlimited number of times.
Regarding whether or not to place the first choice for the major that has been admitted early, Ms. Thuy said that on the System, candidates only need to pay attention to the principle of which major they like best first. In case the wishes have been admitted early but are not the major they like best, candidates can place them later.
If the majors that candidates like but do not meet the admission requirements, the System will still consider the majors that they have met the admission requirements for early (according to the regulations of the schools). Candidates should remember to update the System with all data that can be used for admission such as: academic transcripts, foreign language certificates, competency assessment certificates, certificates to add priority points, incentives according to the regulations.
"Strategy" for registering admission wishes
Dr. Huynh Trung Phong - Director of the Center for Student Support and Startup Development, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education said: Candidates need to calmly choose their admission wishes. Too fast or too slow is not good, and must be persistent, register until completion. The time frame for candidates to register their wishes on the Ministry's System is about more than 10 days, the first 1-2 days should not be too hasty, and should not wait until the last 1-2 days to register.
“The choice will affect the success and future of the candidates. You need to consider the long-term story. Now is the age of information technology, you can completely search for information about future orientation, which industries will be the needs of society.
Many students choose hot majors based on their friends and the market, but they do not consider that in a few years the hot majors will no longer be hot. Therefore, this should be kept in mind when choosing a major,” Mr. Phong advised.
According to many education experts, when candidates register for admission on the Ministry's system, each candidate can register an unlimited number of wishes, as many as they want; some candidates register 1-2 wishes for sure, some register 10 wishes. Depending on the range, candidates should register from 3-5 wishes, or up to 7-8 wishes is the most.
When choosing any major, candidates need to base on their own abilities, interests and the needs of society, so that after graduation they will have a stable job. Candidates need to balance the three sides of the career triangle to choose the most accurate way, according to the advice of teachers and relatives. Then arrange the wishes from the most favorite, the most desired first, then gradually lower... Avoid the situation of putting the disliked wishes at the top, when the exam is passed, the favorite major has no opportunity, it will be very regrettable.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy also gave advice: Candidates should not put all their wishes into only the top majors and schools with too high a level of competition.
Because then, if you do not pass this wish, most of the remaining wishes in the group of schools with the same high level of competition will also be difficult to pass. Besides, candidates should not register for too many wishes.
There have been cases of registering for more than 100 wishes, which is very wasteful and unnecessary. Instead, students should divide their wishes into groups: top schools, middle schools - more suitable to their abilities, then the chance of being admitted will be much higher.
In addition, candidates must note that they must complete the entire process from beginning to end, without stopping and exiting in the middle, otherwise the operations will not be recorded. They must complete the entire process, when the system reports that these wishes have been confirmed. When changing wishes, it is the same, pay attention to the final steps.
