The 2026 World Cup finals will be the most special World Cup in world football history, when for the first time there will be 48 national teams participating, instead of 32 like previous editions.
The tournament, co-hosted by three North American countries - the United States, Canada and Mexico - will take place from June to July 2026. This is the first time the World Cup has returned to the CONCACAF region since 1994.

With the expanded format, 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups of 4 teams each . The top two teams, second place teams and the eight best third-placed teams will advance to the round of 16.
In total, the 2026 World Cup will have 104 matches , significantly more than the previous 64 matches, promising to bring a longer and more dramatic football party than ever.
The most modern stadiums in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City or Dallas will be the meeting place of millions of fans.
FIFA hopes this World Cup will not only break records in revenue and audience, but also demonstrate global solidarity, opening a new era for world football – where opportunities come to more football countries than ever before.
