In 1400, Ho Quy Ly ascended the throne, taking the national name Dai Ngu. Ho Dynasty Citadel officially became the capital of the new dynasty, with noble military , historical and cultural values.

This citadel gate also has many other names such as Tay Do citadel, Tay Kinh citadel, Tay Giai citadel or An Ton citadel. This is a citadel famous throughout Southeast Asia for its solidity and speed of completion, when it was completed by ancient artisans in just 3 months of construction. Although the construction time was extremely short, it has existed for 6 centuries and is still intact. Thanh Hoa... To make the gate, people used stone slabs carved into grapefruit segments and placed tightly together, creating a very beautiful curved gate. Thanh Hoa Citadel of the Ho Dynasty consists of three main parts: La Thanh, Hao Thanh and Hoang Thanh. La Thanh is the outermost ring with a circumference of up to 4 km. The moat was dug to surround the four sides of the inner citadel and is located about 50 meters from the foot of the citadel, with the task of protecting the inner citadel. Ho Dynasty Citadel - a highlight for Thanh Hoa tourism Ho Dynasty Citadel is considered the only remaining stone citadel in Southeast Asia and one of the few remaining in the world. On June 27, 2011, in Paris (France), at the 35th session of the World Heritage Committee, UNESCO recognized Ho Dynasty Citadel as a world cultural heritage.
