The end for Ter Stegen.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen's future at Barcelona is in jeopardy as tensions between the two sides escalate.

Ter Stegen is highly likely to leave Barca.

Barcelona are preparing to sign Joan Garcia. The deal is reportedly complete and only awaits the activation of his release clause. This move by Barca puts the German goalkeeper at risk of losing his starting position and facing fierce competition for the spot in goal next season.

Despite declaring he didn't want to leave Camp Nou during the German national team's training camp, Ter Stegen still perceived suspicious signals from the club, pushing him toward a departure. After the match against France, Ter Stegen immediately flew back to Barcelona on a private jet hoping to clarify the situation before the summer break. However, the crucial meeting with coach Hansi Flick could not take place because both he and Sporting Director Deco were absent from the club's headquarters.

Instead of direct communication, Ter Stegen had to receive messages through the media. Spanish newspapers unanimously reported that Barca wanted to use the goalkeeper pairing of Garcia and Szczesny next season, while the German star was excluded from their plans.

Ter Stegen's salary, with an income of over 20 million euros per year, has also been scrutinized, especially as Barcelona is exceeding its wage bill and needs to cut costs to sign new players. All of this makes Ter Stegen realize that he is gradually becoming a financial burden.

Even at the German national team, coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed concern: “I only know what the press reports, and nobody can be sure what is true. In my role, I hope to receive clearer information about what will happen to him.”

The silent crisis between Barca and the veteran goalkeeper could be a sign of an inevitable parting of ways.
