Putting them in the turmoil and changes of the times after peace was restored, the author conveys in each page of the story a multi-dimensional view and profound contemplation of world affairs and human life.

The book is meant to “summarize” a period of the writer’s writing, both in terms of writing style and his own perspective on life issues. Some of the stories include: “Golden Beach”, “County Town Story”, “The Strange and Different Teacher Phung”, “Head of the Neighborhood”, “Girl with Children”, “The Last Bus of the Year”, “Sisters”, “Hometown”, “Border City”, “Yellow Rose”, “Night Flight”, “Signs of Love”, “Wise as a Woman”, “The Last Bus of the Day”…

Regarding this collection of short stories, writer Pham Ngoc Chieu commented: “Ma Van Khang is not only good at using language in description. He also has a talent for using language in writing passages that break away from the main storyline. These can be called “floating” passages, in the language of the performing arts industry. I call them “literary wanderings” of the art of writing stories bearing the brand name of Ma Van Khang. These are passages of varying lengths, sometimes just one or two sentences, sometimes a long paragraph with many words. However, whether long or short, these “floating” or “literary wanderings” bring readers new and interesting ideas beyond the ideas of the main storyline.”

Writer Mai Thanh said: “Ma Van Khang is a writer of realism and existentialism. Many of Ma Van Khang’s stories are very simple and have no plot. It must be said that only Ma Van Khang has the talent to conjure them into short stories.”
