Be careful with "converted" fire alarm equipment that does not guarantee quality

Through a survey, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department - Hanoi City Police found that there are still some wireless fire alarm devices that do not ensure quality, affecting fire prevention and fighting safety at facilities and households.

According to regulations, norms and standards on fire prevention and fighting, wireless fire alarm equipment basically includes 2 types: Wireless fire alarm system and local fire alarm equipment. Depending on the scale and current status of the project, establishments and households are allowed to choose and use wireless fire alarm equipment.

Some establishments and households, due to insufficient research, have chosen wireless fire alarm equipment that does not meet quality standards and fire prevention and fighting regulations, such as: Equipment of unknown origin, not inspected, not granted a Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Certificate; Equipment that has been inspected, granted a Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Certificate with features and technical parameters as "wired equipment" but is then "converted" into "wireless equipment".

Pursuant to current regulations on fire prevention and fighting; to ensure fire prevention, fighting and rescue safety for facilities and households and effectively implement the roadmap for equipping and connecting fire alarm transmission equipment with the database system on fire prevention, fighting and rescue; the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department recommends that facility owners and households need to carefully research when choosing wireless fire alarm equipment and pay attention to some contents.

Business units of fire prevention and fighting vehicles, equipment and materials must be granted a Certificate of eligibility for fire prevention and fighting services. When purchasing equipment and vehicles, facility owners and household owners must request business units of fire prevention and fighting vehicles, equipment and materials to provide invoices and documents to clearly show the origin of the products.

Fire prevention and fighting equipment and devices in the automatic fire alarm system, including: Fire alarm center, fire detector, fire alarm button, fire alarm bell, fire alarm light must be inspected and issued a Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Certificate according to regulations, in which, must be tested for the criteria of fire alarm equipment using radio transmission.

Features and technical specifications of vehicles and equipment when put on the market must be kept intact according to the Inspection Report and Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Certificate.

Facilities and households can visually inspect the following methods: The vehicle and equipment must be affixed with a fire prevention and fighting inspection stamp; Scan the QR code printed on the stamp or request the vehicle business unit to provide a Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Certificate of the equipment; Compare the serial number of the inspection stamp with the serial number recorded on the Fire Prevention and Fighting Equipment Inspection Certificate to determine whether the signature and code (model) of the provided vehicle and equipment matches the signature and code of the inspected vehicle and equipment. Visually inspect the provided fire prevention and fighting equipment and compare it with the manufacturer's catalogue, the symbol and code of the fire prevention and fighting equipment and equipment on the Inspection Certificate.

For “wireless” devices, most Inspection Certificates will clearly state the “wireless” characteristics of the product; Test the actual operation and performance of the vehicle or device.

In addition to ensuring compliance with regulations on fire prevention and fighting, wireless fire alarm devices and equipment using radio transmission lines must comply with regulations of the Ministry of Science and Technology on standards, conformity and frequency of use of the devices.

For wireless fire alarm devices that have been installed but have not fully met legal requirements; in the immediate future, facility owners and household owners should regularly self-check to ensure that the system is always in a state of constant operation; at the same time, it is recommended that the person/unit that provided the equipment is responsible for regularly checking and maintaining the equipment for the facility or household, promptly repairing and replacing components when necessary.
