In 1965, in response to the beloved Uncle Ho's call to fight against the US to save the country, in response to the "Three Readies" movement and Directive No. 71 dated June 21, 1965 of the Prime Minister on the establishment of the Youth Volunteer Team to fight against the US to save the country, tens of thousands of young people in the capital eagerly wrote applications to join the armed forces, to join the Youth Volunteer Team to fight against the US to save the country.
Under the leadership of the City Party Committee, on July 11, 1965, the Hanoi Youth Union established the first Youth Volunteer Team of the Capital to fight against the US and save the country, entering the fire line of Zone 4 to open the Truong Son road. That was the Hanoi Youth Volunteer Team N43, consisting of 7 companies from 8 districts: Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Tu Liem, Thanh Tri.
Delivering the commemorative speech, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Hanoi Anti-American Youth Volunteer Team N43 Duong Thi Vin said: The team has 1,500 young people, with an average age of 18-20, 50% are female, 30% are secondary school students who have just left school. The area of operation is 3 provinces in the Central region (Nghe An, Ha Tinh , Quang Binh), with the main task of opening roads, filling bomb craters to ensure smooth traffic.
Summing up the 4-year term (1965-1969), the Hanoi Youth Volunteer Team N43 successfully completed its mission, contributing to the construction of strategic routes 15, 21, 22, 22B and Route 10 Quyet Thang; guarding 15 key points that the US often fiercely attacked; clearing thousands of bombs and mines of all kinds... Many groups and individuals were rewarded, 48 comrades sacrificed, more than 100 comrades were injured. Martyr Hoang Loc in Hai Ba Trung area was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State.
“The Hanoi Youth Volunteer Team N43 made a worthy contribution to the Youth Volunteer Force during the resistance war against the US to save the capital and was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State. The sacrifices and contributions of the Hanoi Youth Volunteer Team N43 contributed to the great victory of the nation, liberating the South and unifying the country,” Ms. Duong Thi Vin shared.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong emphasized that thanks to the sacrifices of millions of Vietnamese people, the country has peace and stability to develop as it is today.
“The recent 50th anniversary of national reunification is also an opportunity for us to show our gratitude and remember the contributions of the heroic martyrs; at the same time, this is also an opportunity for us to review history, to engrave the value of independence and freedom; it is an opportunity for all our people to see the sense of responsibility in preserving and protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, especially educating the younger generation in patriotism and the will to be self-reliant towards the nation,” comrade Nguyen Van Phong shared.
Affirming that Hanoi always appreciates the contributions of previous generations, especially the armed forces, the Youth Volunteer Force, and those who directly participated in the resistance war against the US, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong said: On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, from the city to the grassroots, there were many activities to express gratitude and educate about traditions. The city continues to review to avoid missing any policy problems.

In addition, the city continues to review families with difficult housing conditions to pay attention, not only to remove temporary housing, but also to provide additional support regarding conditions.
On behalf of the city's leaders, comrade Nguyen Van Phong expressed his gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of the Youth Volunteers to the cause of national liberation and reunification. "It is the merits and contributions of you, comrades, that have added color and glory to the tradition of the capital Hanoi... The example, contributions and sacrifices of you, comrades, are always a shining example, a source of encouragement and inspiration for the young generation of the capital Hanoi today," comrade Nguyen Van Phong emphasized.


At the program, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and the Liaison Committee of Youth Volunteer Team N43 presented 24 gifts to the families of martyrs.
