On June 22, Ms. Chu Thi Man, Vice Chairman of Binh Xuyen Commune People's Committee confirmed that due to the impact of heavy rain, the flood on Cong River rose and flowed rapidly, causing part of Trai Ngua underground bridge to be washed away. "The location of the flooded underground bridge is located in Ba Xuyen commune. There were no casualties, but it caused local traffic disruption between the two communes," said Ms. Man. At the scene, a nearly 30-meter-long section of the Trai Ngua underground bridge was swept away. Floodwaters on the Cong River flowed rapidly and overflowed the bridge surface. Currently, the authorities of Binh Son and Ba Xuyen communes have organized forces, set up checkpoints at both ends of the Trai Ngua underground bridge, and put up warning signs to ensure people's safety. Heavy rains on June 20 and 21 in Thai Nguyen province caused localized flooding in many places. Initially, authorities determined that there was damage to livestock, agricultural production and infrastructure. Thai Nguyen province has mobilized more than 1,900 officers and soldiers from the military, police, and militia forces, along with 12 motorboats and 16 specialized vehicles to assist people in evacuating from flooded areas, set up checkpoints and warnings at cut-off traffic routes, divert traffic to ensure traffic safety, and deploy dike protection and flood prevention plans. Heavy rains that lasted throughout the night of June 20 and early morning of June 21 caused floodwaters on the Cau and Cong rivers to rise suddenly, flooding many residential areas in Song Cong City. In just a moment, many hamlets and residential groups in Ba Xuyen and Chau Son wards and Binh Son commune were submerged in water. Many families were caught off guard, and their property and livestock were swept away. According to preliminary statistics, the sudden flood on the night of June 20 to the early morning of June 21 seriously affected more than 256 households in communes and wards in Song Cong City, causing heavy property damage. The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Song Cong City has activated an emergency plan. Chairman of Song Cong City People's Committee - Mr. Vu Duy Nghia directly went to the scene to direct the rescue work. His phone never stopped ringing, each call was an address needing support, an urgent request. In Chau Son ward, where flood waters isolated 15 families, the youth union members of Song Cong City Youth Union used boats to cross the flood waters to bring rice and clean water to the people.VN (according to Vietnamnet)
