Hoang Mai is the district that recorded the most dengue fever outbreaks in Hanoi last week with 13 outbreaks. Coming to Vinh Hung ward, reporters from the Journalists and Public Opinion newspaper noted that this area has a high population density, many rented houses, many construction works and vacant land used as a place to store waste, construction materials, flower pots, bottles and jars scattered around... There are also many floating water tanks and 3 cemeteries, so mosquitoes come here to lay eggs, creating many larvae nests.
According to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), the areas with the most complicated epidemic developments and cases in the capital are Thanh Tri and Thach That districts. In Thach That alone, the two communes with complicated and prolonged outbreaks, with the most patients, are Vinh Loc village, Bung village (Phung Xa commune, with 334 patients) and Sen village, Ban village (Huu Bang commune, with 186 cases).
The outbreak in Vinh Ninh village, Vinh Quynh commune (Thanh Tri district) recorded 217 patients. The Hanoi Department of Health conducted inspections and monitoring, showing that this outbreak was not thoroughly handled from the beginning. The Hanoi CDC's inspection results all recorded mosquito larvae indexes that exceeded the risk threshold.
According to statistics, recently, Hoai Duc District General Hospital has received the most dengue fever patients (more than 100 cases), followed by Hanoi Traditional Medicine General Hospital with 79 cases and Thanh Nhan Hospital with 68 patients.
At the Tropical Disease Center – Bach Mai Hospital, on average, 10-20 cases of dengue fever from Hanoi are admitted to the hospital every day. Of these, about 5-10% of patients have severe symptoms.
