This spring crop, the whole province strives to plant more than 24,100 hectares of rice; planting the entire late spring rice crop area, focusing on planting in February, striving to complete before March 5. The weather after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin until now and forecast in the coming days will be favorable for farmers to go to the fields to speed up the progress of spring rice planting to ensure the crop schedule. In the fields of Nhat Tan commune (Tien Lu), farmers are urgently preparing the land and regulating water to prepare for direct sowing of rice in time for the crop. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a farmer in the commune, said: Due to the schedule for sowing seedlings on hard ground at the time before the Lunar New Year, most farmers start sowing seedlings after Tet, which has affected the progress of sowing. Currently, the seedlings of pharmaceuticals and seedlings sown on hard ground have been ensured, so households focus their manpower on going to the fields to sow spring rice. According to the orientation of the district and the commune, this crop, my family applies the method of direct sowing and transplanting by seedlings sown on hard ground to limit the impact of severe cold weather, which kills the seedlings and requires re-sowing.

Phu Cu district plans to plant more than 3,300 hectares of rice, striving to complete the planting in February. By February 16, farmers in the district had planted more than 580 hectares. In the coming days, with favorable weather, the district has directed farmers to actively take care of seedlings, speed up the progress of land preparation and spring rice planting. Previously, the district directed specialized units to actively check and balance the amount of rice seeds and the needs of farmers according to the planting plan to ensure enough good seeds for production. Mobilize the maximum labor force and machines to speed up the progress of thorough soil preparation; clean the fields, destroy rice husks, handle straw and plant residues to limit the source of pests and diseases in the fields.

To limit the damage caused by cold weather that kills seedlings and requires re-sowing, and to limit the situation of "fields waiting for seedlings", in many localities, farmers have actively applied sowing seedlings covered with plastic, and at the same time expanded the area of direct sowing to ensure the planting plan within the crop time frame. Ms. Tran Thi Hanh, a farmer in Nhat Quang commune (Phu Cu) said: Last spring, my family planted the entire area by direct sowing, reducing costs and achieving high productivity. This season, my family continues to apply direct sowing for more than 7 sao of rice fields. Since February 12, I and other households in the commune have soaked and incubated the seed rice, and at the same time, thoroughly prepared the soil, ensuring a reasonable water level on the field surface for direct sowing.

Comrade Tran Van Hanh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Lu district, said: The water source for spring rice cultivation this year is favorable for farmers to prepare the land for planting. By February 16, the whole district had completed the first and second land preparation for more than 2,000 hectares, sown 272 hectares of rice seedlings, and planted 708 hectares. To ensure the season, the district recommends that farmers expand the area of direct sowing at the foot of high fields and high hills, and proactively irrigate and drain water. To make direct sowing effective, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the district, communes, and towns propagate and disseminate techniques, and regulate water appropriately for rice to quickly take root and recover.

With the goal of basically completing sowing and planting in February but no later than March 5, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that localities mobilize human resources and resources to go to the fields to sow and plant, thoroughly prepare the soil; apply enough manure, phosphate fertilizer, and organic microbial fertilizer before double harrowing and planting (when weather conditions are favorable). Regulate shallow and shallow water appropriately for direct sowing and planting young seedlings smoothly and on schedule. Areas that cannot be pumped water by motor power need to use manual measures or small pumps to regulate water, not allowing the water in the fields to become too high for farmers to be able to plant and the situation of "seedlings waiting for the fields". Mobilize the labor force to sow and plant quickly, maximizing the area of direct sowing and planting with seedlings on hard ground. For thick seedlings, they must be transplanted when the seedlings are still young, with 2.5 leaves or more. Localities need to actively direct farmers to urgently go to the fields to sow and plant, limiting the sowing and planting of old seedlings. In addition, localities need to step up guidance for farmers on technical measures to care for rice after sowing, especially for areas of direct-sown rice, it is necessary to proactively regulate water, fertilize, and thin out the fields; strengthen field inspection, planning, and forecasting to prevent pests and diseases of newly planted rice.
