After being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the global economic downturn, the province's tourism industry has made a significant recovery thanks to synchronized solutions. This is an important prerequisite for the province to continue implementing Government Resolution No. 82-NQ/CP, dated May 18, 2023, on key tasks and solutions to accelerate the recovery and development of tourism effectively and sustainably.

Accelerate the recovery and development of tourism.

The commercial and service shops in the pedestrian street at Wyndham Lynn Times Thanh Thuy Resort, Thanh Thuy District, cater to the sightseeing and shopping needs of tourists .

Tourism activities recovered quickly after the COVID-19 pandemic, with high revenue and increased tourist numbers. Tourism revenue in the province during the 2021-2023 period is estimated at 7,335 billion VND, an average increase of 32.8% per year, attracting 1.8 million overnight visitors, an average increase of 25.6% per year. In the first six months of this year alone, tourism revenue is estimated at nearly 2,700 billion VND, a 13% increase compared to the same period last year; the number of overnight visitors is approximately 482,900, a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.

The province has developed various tourism activities including cultural and spiritual tourism, resort tourism, community tourism, ecotourism, educational tourism, and agricultural tourism, with several tours and routes already effectively exploited and attracting tourists. The implementation of specific programs and plans for tourism development in the eight expanded Northwest provinces and Ho Chi Minh City has been carried out synchronously with many attractive activities and events, strengthening linkages and exchanges between localities, and enhancing regional cooperation in tourism development.

Simultaneously, these activities are linked to the promotion of tourism and cultural events on a national and regional scale. This collaboration helps expand the scope, leverage the strengths of localities, create diverse and attractive tourism products, enhance competitiveness, mobilize resources, attract investment, and promote the spread of socio-economic development across localities and regions.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa - Director of the Phu Tho Tourism Promotion Information Center, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "In recent times, the quality of linked tourism products has been improved through the promotion of building and upgrading tourist attractions, photo spots, and check-in points, improving the environmental landscape, and adding signposts at destinations such as Xuan Son National Park, Long Coc tea hill, Hung Lo tourist site, etc."

Tourism promotion and communication activities are carried out on technology platforms through fanpages and tourism promotion websites of the provinces in the cooperation group. Simultaneously, digital transformation technology is applied to develop a smart tourism ecosystem and convenient mobile applications to support tourists. This contributes to exploiting existing potential and advantages, diversifying tourism products, and enhancing professionalism in tourism activities within the province.”

Tourism is a strong sector of Thanh Thuy district. In the first eight months of this year, nearly 800,000 tourists visited the area, experiencing various services and generating revenue of 560 billion VND. The district is stepping up its efforts in promoting and developing tourism through cooperation and development; improving and upgrading its technical infrastructure to create a foundation for tourism growth.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, Director of the Green Pearl Island Tourist Area in Thanh Thuy District, said: “Along with upgrading infrastructure, the district actively participates in tourism promotion and marketing programs, stimulates tourism demand, and organizes the annual Thanh Thuy District Autumn Tourism Week, creating favorable conditions for tourism businesses to develop. Thanks to this, the Green Pearl Island Tourist Area, with its rich ecological tourism complex including entertainment areas, resorts, accommodation, physiotherapy centers, restaurants, etc., has become more well-known to tourists from within and outside the province, connecting with travel agencies and contributing to increased revenue.”

The province aims to welcome and serve 850,000 tourists by 2025, with total tourism and service revenue reaching 4,500 billion VND. To achieve this goal, the province will continue to promote the restructuring of the tourism industry towards professionalism, modernity, quality, and sustainability; strengthen the attraction of investment resources for tourism development; build a favorable environment; and encourage economic sectors to invest and conduct business effectively. Through this, the province will accelerate the recovery and development of tourism, gradually making it an important economic sector of the province.
