Located in a low-lying area with no drainage system, the road turns into a pond during the rainy season, making upgrading and expansion urgent.
In the 2km through Phu Rieng commune, the section from the roundabout at the central intersection of Phu Rieng commune to the end of the residential area of Farm 10 (old) is 8m wide, more than 600m long but has many agencies, units, schools with a large volume of people and vehicles passing by. However, due to not being upgraded or repaired, the road has seriously degraded, with many large potholes. In particular, there is no drainage system on both sides of the road, so in the rainy season the road turns into a pond, making traffic extremely difficult.
Secretary of Phu Thinh village Party cell, Phu Rieng commune, Ly Xuan Doi said: This road is a low-lying area of Phu Thinh village, so when it rains, water flows from above, causing most of the residential area to be flooded, affecting the entire Phu Nguyen village. Therefore, the issue of upgrading and expanding the road, combined with the drainage system, becomes urgent.
After handing over the site, the contractor started construction of the road.
The road has been degraded for a long time, so Phu Rieng district has a policy of investing in upgrading and expanding it from 2023 with the motto of the State and the people working together. In which, the State invests capital, the people donate land, crops, and architectural objects to clear the ground. The scope of recovery from the existing road centerline is 9m, including items: 12m asphalt roadbed and sidewalks, drainage ditches, and lighting. Phu Rieng commune has mobilized the entire political system to participate, step up propaganda, advocacy, and explanation so that people understand and implement, however, some households have not agreed due to compensation demands, leading to long delays.
With the determination not to give up, up to now, most households have agreed, committed to donating land, self-demolishing constructions and architectural objects to hand over the site to the construction unit. In particular, households with a 60m long frontage road have committed to donating land; many households built solid, modern gates, fences, domes, etc. with large investment costs, but for the common goal, have self-demolished constructions and architectural objects to hand over the site.
“With the consensus of the people, especially the support of leaders at all levels from district to commune, the project has now started construction. Currently, there are only a few households that have not agreed, but because of their long-term benefits, I believe that they will soon cooperate and voluntarily dismantle the construction and architectural works to hand over the construction site. As representatives of the people of Phu Thinh and Phu Nguyen villages, we are very excited because when the project is completed, the problem of flooding will be solved and travel will be more convenient,” said Mr. Doi.
The Long Tan - Phu Rieng route will be upgraded and expanded from 2023, with funding allocated by the People's Committee of Phu Rieng district. According to statistics, there are 107 plots of land with 92 constructions and architectural objects affected by the project. After a long period of persistent propaganda and mobilization, up to now, 98% of households have voluntarily dismantled constructions and architectural objects to clear the land and hand over to the construction unit. The project has been and is being implemented, to the joy and excitement of the people. We will urge the speed up of the project implementation so that the route will be completed soon, meeting the travel and trading needs of the people.
