More than a week has passed since Typhoon No. 2 passed, but tens of thousands of hectares of rice fields ready for harvest in the Mekong Delta are still flooded. For the areas where rice has been flattened, farmers in many places risk losing everything due to the high cost of manual harvesting.
To minimize losses for farmers, the authorities and agricultural sectors of the Mekong Delta provinces are urgently implementing various support solutions, such as: clearing and expanding drainage systems in the fields; operating flood control pumping stations at full capacity; mobilizing local forces to help people harvest and thresh rice… Reporters from SGGP newspaper were present in many localities to record these activities.
