The entrance exam for grade 6 in Thu Duc City is expected to change.

Recently, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City (HCMC) announced the structure of the entrance exam for grade 6 with expected notable changes.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City has just announced the continuation of the entrance survey for grade 6 admission, school year 2025 - 2026, at 3 secondary schools: Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu and Binh Tho.

Expected content of the 6th grade entrance exam in Thu Duc City will change

Regarding the admission method, admission is required to be conducted by reviewing application conditions and conducting a survey to assess students' abilities. Each school will organize a 6th grade survey point (depending on the number of registered students).

Schools organize the survey on the same day and with the same questions. Students taking the survey at a school will contact that school to submit their application and can only register and submit their application at one secondary school.

Each student can only register for the entrance exam at one school (no other wishes). The exam results of that school will not be used for admission to the other two schools.

Candidates are all students who have completed primary school and wish to enter grade 6 in Thu Duc City, with an average final score of 9.0 or higher in math and Vietnamese.

It is expected that candidates will take the aptitude test in mid-June 2025 for 90 minutes. The test consists of 2 parts:

The multiple choice test consists of 20 questions in English about understanding natural sciences , social sciences and common sense. Compared to last year, this year's test is expected to remove 3 questions in Vietnamese from the multiple choice test.

The essay section, which includes a survey of English proficiency (reading and writing in English), math and logical thinking proficiency in Vietnamese, and reading and writing proficiency in Vietnamese, remains the same as last year.

Enrollment targets remain the same as last school year.

According to this announcement, the enrollment quota of the 3 hottest schools in Thu Duc City remains the same as the previous school year. Specifically, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School enrolls 9 6th grade classes (of which at least 5 are integrated English classes, the rest are intensive English classes) with 315 students.

Hoa Lu Secondary School recruits 7 6th grade classes (of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes) with 245 students.

Binh Tho Secondary School recruits 8 grade 6 classes (of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes) with 280 students.

Admitted students are those who complete the 6th grade entrance exam completely, correctly, and have no score of 0. The admission score is the total score of all parts of the 6th grade entrance exam.

Based on the survey results, the 6th grade admissions board at 3 secondary schools Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu and Binh Tho will consider from high to low until the quota is met and according to criteria suitable to each school's model.
