Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that up to this point, all preparations and coordination with relevant units for the 2024 high school graduation exam are taking place normally, basically the same as previous years. However, this year's exam has a few differences.

This year, the candidates are all students who have suffered many disadvantages due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They have had to study online for a long time, both to cope with the pandemic and to ensure content, knowledge, and meet the study program. Therefore, after the pandemic was controlled, theeducation sector has had many activities to support and supplement knowledge so that students can be confident and fulfill the requirements of the exam; the questions are also carefully calculated to be appropriate.

This year's candidates are also the last batch of students to implement the 2006 general education program. In 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will innovate in organizing exams to suit the requirements and orientations of the 2018 general education program. Therefore, this year's exam will close the old curriculum, but will be a premise, good preparation for next year's exam.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, said: The 2024 high school graduation exam has a total of 1,071,393 candidates registered to take the exam (an increase of more than 45,000 candidates compared to the 2023 exam). Of which, the number of independent candidates is 46,978, accounting for 4.38% of the total number of candidates. Candidates registered online: 1,014,020, accounting for 94.66% of the total number of candidates.

Candidates will take the exam at 2,323 exam locations, an increase of 51 exam locations compared to the 2023 exam; the total number of exam rooms is 45,149.

This year, a total of 66,927 candidates registered for exemption from the Foreign Language exam, accounting for 6.25% of the total number of candidates. Of which, Hanoi has 21,554 candidates; Ho Chi Minh City has 13,076 candidates.

The 2024 high school graduation exam will be held on June 26-29.

The subjects for the 2024 high school graduation exam include Math, Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Civics and Foreign Languages ​​(English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, Korean).
