Moc Chau ( Son La ) has long been famous as the "plum capital" of the country, with a growing area of over 3,200 hectares. Of which, about 2,400 hectares are in harvest season, each crop providing an estimated output of about 28,000 tons of plums to the market.
Plum growing areas are mainly concentrated in Moc Chau Farm town, Tan Lap commune and neighboring areas.
If in January and February, Moc Chau is covered in the pure white color of plum blossoms, then in May and June, the entire plateau seems to be dressed in a completely new cloak, like a giant green carpet stretching endlessly.
Under the thick plum canopy, clusters of bright red fruit hang heavy, creating a poetic and relaxing scene, attracting tourists from all over.
In Moc Chau, plum gardens have officially opened to welcome visitors since the end of April and peak during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
Seeing plum gardens full of fruit with your own eyes, picking and enjoying the characteristic sweet and sour taste right in the garden... are experiences that make plum picking tourism increasingly popular in the tourism community.

Ms. Thuy Vy ( Hai Phong ) shared, “Plums are very delicious at this time, seven parts sweet, three parts sour. Plums dipped in salt and chili are truly unforgettable.”
The typical plum varieties of Moc Chau each ripen season, bringing unique flavors that are hard for visitors to forget.
The most prominent is the Moc Chau plum - a famous specialty plum of the region, with large fruit, crispy flesh, sweet and juicy. This is the most popular plum, often eaten fresh, made into syrup or processed into jam.
Besides, Tam Hoa plum is also a popular choice, with small fruit, thin skin and a rich, slightly sour taste, very suitable for making jam or eating with Cham Cheo salt.
Finally, there is the Chinese plum, a type of plum with large fruit, thick skin, and a stronger sour taste. It is often chosen by tourists as a gift because of its distinctive flavor and long-lasting freshness after harvest.
The ticket price for plum picking and eating plums on the spot ranges from 30,000 - 50,000 VND/person. If you want to buy plums to take home, the price ranges from 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg.
The best time of day to visit the garden and pick plums is from 8am to 10am, after which visitors can rest and have lunch at the eco-tourism areas or garden houses.
Ms. Le Thi Hang, owner of Hang's Garden, said: "This year, the plums ripen later than usual, the quantity is small so the price is also higher. However, the plums are still very big, crunchy and flavorful." The entrance fee to Ms. Hang's garden is currently 50,000 VND/person, and the plums to take home cost 80,000 VND/kg.
Picking plums in the garden is not only an interesting experience but also an opportunity for everyone to slow down, feel the pristine beauty of nature and the peaceful life in the highlands.
Moc Chau has many plum picking gardens as well as attractive destinations that tourists cannot miss. Na Ka plum valley is considered one of the largest and most beautiful plum growing areas here, with dozens of hectares of plum gardens stretching far and wide, creating a vivid natural picture in the middle of summer.
Fruit Picking Festival - Moc Chau Plum promises to bring many interesting experiences to visitors.
Mu Nau Valley impresses with its fresh, cool climate and poetic terrain, ideal for picnics, relaxation and taking "virtual life" photos.

Mr. The Hung (Hanoi) shared after a 2-day, 1-night trip, “During the trip to Moc Chau, my family really enjoyed picking plums. It was fun, bonding, and we had beautiful photos as souvenirs. Plums are in season so all the fruits are crunchy and sweet.”
In particular, from May 31 to June 1, at Na Ka Plum Valley, there will be a Fruit Picking Festival - Moc Chau Post-Plum with a series of exciting activities.
Coming to the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to experience traditional sports, folk games and directly participate in many attractive competitions such as: plum picking competition, plum eating competition, fruit tray presentation, folk games...
Not just a simple trip, the journey to Moc Chau plum season is also an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in nature, experience indigenous culture and enjoy the feeling of connection between people.
