Vuon Chuoi archaeological site ranked as city-level relic

In Decision No. 3134/QD-UBND dated June 23, the Hanoi People's Committee officially ranked the Vuon Chuoi archaeological site as a city-level relic.

Accordingly, the archaeological site of Vuon Chuoi, Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district, along with the relics of Dong Gia pagoda (Thien Phuc Thien Tu), Lai Yen commune, Hoai Duc district and Ung Thien palace, Van Dinh town, Ung Hoa district, Hanoi city are ranked as city-level relics.

This is great news for scientists , archaeologists and people of Lai Xa village, Kim Chung commune, who have contributed significantly to the protection and preservation of the Vuon Chuoi archaeological site over the years.

Located in Lai Xa village, Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc, Hanoi, Vuon Chuoi is the only archaeological site containing 4 cultural layers of Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun and Dong Son with thousands of artifacts and fragments of all kinds of materials, from stone, bronze, to pottery, bamboo, wood, even jade with many types, from weapons, labor tools, production tools, living tools to jewelry.

In addition to thousands of artifacts, fragments of artifacts, traces of structures such as kitchens, column pits, bronze furnaces, courtyards or architecture, scientists have also discovered many ancient tombs and burial sites with remains dating back thousands of years.

The Vuon Chuoi archaeological site is currently located in the construction area of the Ring Road 3.6. Previously, this place was also a typical example of antiquities being stolen, to the point that the people of Lai Xa village had to assign people to set up a camp to guard the site.

Banana Garden began archaeological excavation in 1969 and has undergone nine excavations to date.

Professor Lam My Dung (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), a scientist who has been associated with Vuon Chuoi for many years, believes that Vuon Chuoi is a typical example of how we have tried to preserve and have preserved a valuable site, in the current state of strong urbanization. Preserving Vuon Chuoi is also preserving a priceless asset for Hanoi in the future.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy, Institute of Archaeology, who has directly participated in the excavation for many years, said that Vuon Chuoi is a unique and invaluable archaeological site with 4 cultural layers and thousands of artifacts and relics, helping modern people to somewhat visualize the social life of our ancestors thousands of years ago.
