From 9:00 AM on February 17th (the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Horse), many people came to the Upper Temple to offer incense and prayers for peace and safety.

Ms. Ban Thuy Linh from Cam Duong ward shared: “Before, I lived with my parents, and now that I've gotten married and moved out, my family still maintains the tradition of going to the temple at the beginning of the year. This year, at Thuong Temple, my family prayed for peace, favorable weather, and good fortune for everyone.”

During the Lunar New Year holidays, the Thượng Temple was meticulously decorated with peach blossoms, ripe yellow kumquats, and vibrant flags and flowers. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Luu, the temple's caretaker, stated: "The temple has proactively prepared to serve the people and tourists during Tet. Cleaning and sanitizing the religious artifacts has been done carefully and according to rituals; the altars and shrines have been neatly rearranged to ensure solemnity."

In the joyful atmosphere of the early spring days, many people in Lao Cai visit temples to feel the warmth, to soothe their minds, and to find peace and happiness in life.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thao from Lao Cai ward said: "Every time I set foot in Thuong Temple, I feel more at peace. This is an opportunity for me to reflect on myself in the past year, contemplate many things, and focus on the good values in life. Today, I brought my daughter to visit the temple and ask for auspicious calligraphy for the new year. I will ask for the characters for 'Patience' and 'Peace' to start a new year full of good things," Ms. Thao said.

Despite the hustle and bustle of life, the beautiful tradition of visiting temples at the beginning of the year is still preserved by generations of people in Lao Cai. This is not only a spiritual activity but also an opportunity for each person to express gratitude, remember their roots, and wish for a peaceful and happy new year.
