On June 17, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Hien, Head of Training Department, Foreign Trade University informed that the school has completed 60% of the enrollment target for full-time university programs in 2023 through the early admission method.
Regarding some majors with benchmark scores of 30 or higher that have caused a stir, Ms. Hien said that these majors are all under the admission method of combining academic records with national excellent student awards. "Many candidates do not understand the new conversion calculation method, so they are still wondering. In fact, there is no longer a benchmark score of over 30," she said.

In the admission plan, the school clearly stipulates the calculation formula and the maximum score for this method is 34, not 30 points (including 30 points from three subjects in the combination + a maximum of 4 points for candidates who won first prize at the national level). As for the admission method combining academic records with provincial excellent student awards, the maximum score is 32.
The school also stated that after calculating the candidates' scores, the school will convert the total score to a 30-point scale so that candidates can understand clearly. The reason the school has come up with such a calculation is to ensure compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training in changing the way of calculating priority points, and to avoid the situation of the standard score exceeding 30.
For example, the admission score for the provincial excellent student award based on the academic transcript method is 31 points - Supply Chain Management major. After converting the score to a 30-point scale, the admission score will be 29.1. "Foreign Trade University clearly shows this calculation and conversion method in the admission score announcement, candidates can follow it," Ms. Hien added.

Previously, in the official dispatch guiding university and college admissions for preschooleducation , the Ministry of Education and Training required that before admission, training institutions must convert to a 30-point scale (including all points considered) and determine the priority points for consideration.
In case of admission based on a scale other than 30 points, the training institution must determine the corresponding priority score as the 30-point scale according to the regulations of the admission regulations. "The training institution shall stipulate additional criteria for candidates with outstanding abilities (if any) to ensure that the admission score is not greater than 30 points, including priority points and bonus points (if any) ," the regulations clearly state.
Thus, with the new regulation, from 2023 there will be no candidates with admission scores exceeding 30, and competition in high-scoring majors will be fairer.
