New look of "Autumn Melody" 2022

The 2022 "Autumn Melody" Symphony - Music - Dance Festival is a community cultural event. People in need can enjoy it without having to buy tickets like before.

The 2022 "Autumn Melody" Art Festival, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and the Standing Committee of the Organizing Committee for the celebration of major holidays of the city; Ho Chi Minh City Symphony - Music - Ballet Theater (HBSO) in coordination with the City Center for Performing Arts and Cinema, will take place from September 10 to 17 at the City Theater.

Art experiences

This is the 13th time the "Autumn Melody" Festival has been held. This festival features a series of special, rich, and innovative art programs in the two fields of music and academic dance.

"Autumn Melody" 2022 is a series of performances with many different musical styles from around the world and outstanding songs from Vietnam, with the participation of young musical talents from our country and some guests such as Meritorious Artist Bui Cong Duy (Hanoi), Nguyen Trinh Huong (Hanoi), Dmitry Feygin (Japan), 2 Russian opera artists... Besides the performances, the festival also has 2 seminars on music and dance, providing knowledge and new perspectives on these 2 art forms to the public.

Meritorious Artist Tran Vuong Thach, former Director of HBSO, said that the return of the "Autumn Melody" Arts Festival 2022 after a period of interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic is a source of happiness for the artists. "We believe that the new content of this year's festival will bring the public many memorable artistic experiences" - Meritorious Artist Tran Vuong Thach expected.

Conductor Tran Nhat Minh said that the artists participating in the festival have practiced very carefully, with the determination to perform excellent performances for the audience. "This will be a jubilant vocal program with works by great names in the history of world music such as G. Puccini, G. Rossini, D. Donizetti, WA Mozart, G. Verdi... Along with the achievements of world music are Vietnamese musical works that have left a deep impression on the minds of many generations of our country's public" - conductor Tran Nhat Minh excitedly said.

"Autumn Melodies" 2022 also features the famous oratorio "Carmina burana" (Wheel of Fortune) by German composer Carl Orff; a colorful musical night by authors such as Camille Saint-Saëns, Gabriel Fauré, Takatsugu Muramatsu, Ole Edvard Antonsen; especially excerpts from the soundtracks of the films: "The Mission", "The Terminal", "Les Miserables", "The Incredibles", "Pirates of the Caribbean"...

Enhance cultural and artistic aesthetics

The goal of the "Autumn Melody" Festival is to bring this academic art form closer to the public, becoming a typical art activity of Ho Chi Minh City.

This festival is an opportunity for domestic artists to exchange and learn from international artists, gradually developing the academic art form of Ho Chi Minh City to be on par with other countries in the region and the world. Through this event, the image of Ho Chi Minh City is also promoted to international friends, contributing to the development of tourism.

Becoming a typical cultural and artistic event of Ho Chi Minh City, "Autumn Melody" will become a community cultural event. Thus, all people in need can enjoy the performances of "Autumn Melody" without having to buy tickets.

At first, the organizers were also concerned because if the community performance program was held in an outdoor location, it would not be difficult to attract audiences. However, this is an academic art program, held in a theater, so the risk of audience selection is entirely possible. However, as soon as the program announced the ticket giveaway, the number of people registering for the performance days was full.

"We are very happy with the news that the audience has filled the shows. Thus, the artists only have to devote all their passion to the performances; join hands to contribute to improving the aesthetic of culture and art of the public, especially the youth, through music" - Mr. Tran Nhat Minh expressed.

Conductor Tran Nhat Minh said that young people who love dance and chamber music can completely satisfy this passion through the talk show with the theme "New and creative perspectives in the ballet "Kieu", the dance performance "Kieu" (the work won the excellent award at the recent 2022 National Professional Music and Dance Festival).

The closing concert of the 2022 "Autumn Melodies" Festival will be a concert for lovers of chamber music with works by two great composers LvBeethoven and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, along with Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite Scheherazade.
