Hollywood actors strike, US entertainment industry shuts down?

After more than four weeks of negotiations, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) – an organization representing major film studios and online distributors such as Amazon, Apple, Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Sony – has yet to provide a satisfactory answer, Mr. Drescher added.

This is the first time Hollywood has seen a double industry-wide strike since 1960 and the first actors' strike since 1980. The SAG-AFTRA strike comes two months after a sustained strike by the Writers Guild of America in May, which forced a series of long-running television shows and new Hollywood films to halt production.

The writers' strike has forced late-night talk shows to rerun for days, disrupting most production for the new television season. It has also halted production on big-budget films.
