Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation Tran Anh Tuan said: “The leaders of Vietnam Railways Corporation always appreciate and respect the beautiful actions and humane gestures of the staff and workers. This is not only a valuable gesture but also demonstrates the good behavior culture in the service work of the railway industry, at the same time affirming the Corporation's commitment to always focus on the human factor, ready to share and help those in difficult circumstances in life. Thereby, contributing to building the image of the railway industry as friendly and close to the people.
Vietnam Railways Corporation hopes that the shining example of train crew SE4 will spread and become a source of inspiration for all officers and employees in the entire industry, continuing to enhance the reputation of the railway industry, while making positive contributions to society."
Receiving the attention and praise from the leaders of Vietnam Railways Corporation, Train Captain Tran Van Tri, who directly discovered and promptly organized help for passenger Pham Thi Ng., emotionally shared: “I would like to sincerely thank the timely recognition and encouragement from the leaders of the Corporation. This is not only an honor for me personally but also a great motivation for all the brothers in the train crew. My colleagues and I will continue to make every effort, always putting the interests and safety of passengers first, contributing to building a good image of the Vietnam Railways industry”.
The dedicated and compassionate example of Train Captain Tran Van Tri and the SE4 train crew is a living testament to the spirit of dedicated, professional and compassionate service that the railway industry is constantly promoting and spreading.
Previously, on train SE4 departing on May 22 from Saigon station to Hanoi , a staff member of the Southern Railway Attendants Group (serving the train) discovered that passenger Pham Thi Ng., born in 1978, from Phu Tuc commune, Phu Xuyen district (Hanoi), was traveling by train without a ticket. After investigating, Ms. Ng. said that she had bought a train ticket to Ho Chi Minh City to find relatives to borrow money to treat her husband who was seriously ill in her hometown.
However, when she arrived, she could not contact her relatives and had no way to arrange money, so she fell into a deadlock, without money to buy a ticket home. Because of despair, not finding any way to go home, Ms. Ng. tried to get on the train without paying the ticket. When she learned about the incident and understood her family's situation, instead of handling the ticket evasion according to regulations, Train Captain Tran Van Tri and the staff on train SE4 chose to act sympathetically and humanely. The train crew proactively donated money to buy a ticket for this special guest.
In a short time, everyone donated enough money to buy her a train ticket home, and also provided meals on the train throughout the journey. In her emotional handwritten thank you letter, Ms. Ng. could not hide her deep gratitude to those who helped her in her time of need: “I have no relatives, no money to buy a ticket, but you bought me a ticket, bought me food, and took care of my car ride from Hanoi station home. Once again, thank you very much!”
The humane action of the SE4 train crew is not only a shining example of the spirit of mutual love and support, but also a vivid demonstration of the moral values and fine traditions of the Vietnamese people that are always present in every beat of life, especially in the railway industry - a profession associated with silent service and sacrifice. This is not only a noble gesture between people but also a clear demonstration of the motto "Train is home, passengers are relatives" that the railway industry always pursues.
Vietnam Railways acknowledges and appreciates the good deeds of SE4 train crew and Southern Railway Attendants – shining examples in implementing service culture, contributing to spreading good values in the community, sending love on every north-south journey.
