In Can Tho City, artistic kite flying has become a familiar activity, especially vibrant after the Lunar New Year. From 3 p.m. every day, large vacant lots become bustling with thousands of kite enthusiasts gathering.
At Tay Do Square (Mai Chi Tho Street, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City), colorful kites are flying in the sky, creating a spectacular scene. Hundreds of unique kites brought by professional kite flyers not only show off their skillful kite flying techniques but also contribute to turning this place into an ideal meeting place for those who love this sport.
Along both sides of the road to the kite fields, there are many stalls selling kites of all sizes and colors.
In addition to traditional kites, kite enthusiasts in Can Tho also invest heavily in large aerodynamic kites, costing up to tens of millions of VND each, contributing to enriching this colorful playground.
Not only children, many adults are also very excited and fascinated when watching hundreds of kites full of wind with all shapes, colors and sizes flying in the sky of Tay Do.
This year, the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism of Can Tho City in collaboration with the People's Committee of Cai Rang District organized the Artistic Kite Festival to attract tourists and create a professional playground for kite enthusiasts. The event takes place from now until March 16, promising eye-catching artistic kite performances.
During the festival, many exciting activities will take place, such as giant kite performances by groups and individuals, traditional kite flying, and sport kite performances. The event takes place every day from 3pm to 9pm, bringing together artistic kite teams from many provinces and cities. In particular, on Saturday and Sunday evenings (March 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16), visitors will enjoy special cultural programs.
