Set in a workers' dormitory with characters from many different backgrounds and ages, the film depicts everyday, realistic yet profound stories.
From Xuan, a poor, strong girl with many hidden complexes; to Bac, a man who was betrayed but still longs to be loved and affirm his own value. Each character is a small slice of society, together creating a vivid picture of the lives of workers today.

Not following the tragic motif or embellishing the characters, Gentle Sunshine tells the story with a gentle and simple way. The film has a full range of emotions, from humor in the boarding house life, to romantic feelings, or emotions in the love between father and son, husband and wife.
In particular, the film aims for a positive spirit, arousing the desire to rise up, despite the limited starting point.
Editor Trinh Khanh Ha shared: “It’s been a long time since we made a film about workers. When I went to the field, I realized that today’s workers have a very different mindset, more confident, more ambitious. We want to reflect that and spread a positive, humane perspective...”.

Taking on the main roles in the film are familiar faces such as Duy Hung (as Bac), Ngoc Huyen (Xuan), Quoc Anh (Phong), Luong Thu Trang (Lan Anh)... along with the participation of many veteran artists such as People's Artist Lan Huong, Meritorious Artist Nguyet Hang.
The director and production crew carefully selected the roles to keep them natural, close, and not forced.
Gentle Sunshine is not only a story about love and friendship but also the journey of ordinary people, amidst the hustle and bustle of life but still full of kindness and faith in life.
