- On July 17, a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Nepal led by Mr. Mahesh Chandra Acharya - Director of the Program for Development of Nuts and Fruits in Upland Areas (NAFHA) worked at the provincial branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) to exchange experiences in implementing credit programs.
Receiving and working with the delegation were leaders of the Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch and leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
At the meeting, the leaders of the provincial branch of the Social Policy Bank outlined the main features and operational situation of the unit. Accordingly, in recent years, the representative boards of the Social Policy Bank at all levels have always paid attention to and directed policy credit activities; directed socio -political organizations entrusted to coordinate with the Social Policy Bank and the commune-level poverty reduction committee to actively propagate the Party and Government's policies on social policy credit.
As of June 30, 2025, the total outstanding loan programs reached over VND 5,400 billion. Loan turnover in the first 6 months of 2025 was VND 1,011 billion, with 14,427 customers borrowing capital. Credit quality was maintained, the overdue debt ratio accounted for 0.064% of total outstanding debt.
At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also informed about the situation of growing nuts and fruits in the locality and the province's support policies to develop the value chain of products. Specifically, the whole province currently has over 16,800 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds; the total area of macadamia trees is over 1,036 hectares; 20 linkage chains in agricultural and forestry production have been formed in the province.
Regarding the policy to support investment in agricultural development, there is currently Resolution No. 08 dated December 10, 2019 of the Provincial People's Council on specific policies to encourage investment in developing cooperatives, linking production and consumption of agricultural and rural products in Lang Son province for the period 2020 - 2025.
At the meeting, Mr. Mahesh Chandra Acharya - Director of NAFHA thanked the warm welcome of the VBSP Branch in Lang Son province. He shared: Nepal is a country with many similar characteristics to Lang Son province, suitable for developing a model of growing fruit trees and nut trees such as macadamia; we hope to be provided with more information on the processing of fruits and nuts.
He hopes that through today's visit and work, he will have a visual view of the agricultural value chain and credit policies for agricultural development loans to learn and apply in Nepal in general and NAFHA in particular.
Within the framework of the working program, the delegation visited the macadamia processing facility and OCOP product showroom in Lang Son province.
