The movement "Lighting up the countryside" coordinated by the Provincial Youth Union is a voluntary activity, bringing light to remote villages, border areas, contributing to improving life, ensuring traffic safety and maintaining security and order.
In Co Lac and Pom Khoc villages, Long Phieng commune, the Provincial Youth Union has coordinated with the Cryptography Technical Academy to install 35 solar-powered lamp posts along 650m of village roads, with a total cost of over 70 million VND. The project helps people travel conveniently at night, especially in bad weather. At the same time, it contributes to ensuring traffic safety and maintaining social order.
Ms. Giang Thi Chu, Co Lac village, Long Phieng commune, shared: In the past, people came home late from work on the fields, and traveling on dark roads was very difficult and unsafe. Since the lighting system was installed, traveling at night has become more convenient and community activities have become more vibrant.
In Den village, Phieng Pan commune, there are 57 households with 307 people, 100% of whom are Mong ethnic people, and their lives are still difficult. In early 2025, Son La Provincial Youth Union deployed the "Lighting up the border" project, installing 20 solar-powered lamp posts, worth 30 million VND along the village's internal roads. The lighting system contributes to improving the quality of life.
Mr. Lu A Cang, Party cell secretary and head of Den village, said: The village road has a lighting system, people actively exercise and improve their health. In addition, it also contributes to building a new countryside, changing the appearance of the village, and maintaining security and order.
Many lighting projects such as the models "Lighting the border", "Lighting the mountains and forests", "Lighting the villages"... have been widely deployed in areas such as Ngoc Chien, Pung Banh, Chieng Sai, Chieng An, contributing to improving living conditions, ensuring traffic safety, promoting community culture, supporting production and changing the appearance of the countryside towards civilization and modernity.
Comrade Cam Thi Huyen Trang, member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Son La Provincial Youth Union, said: In the first 6 months of 2025, the Son La Provincial Youth Union chaired and coordinated the lighting of 47 km of rural roads, with a total cost of about 1.23 billion VND. The works met technical, aesthetic, energy-saving and efficient requirements. After the handover, the local government will manage and maintain; the grassroots Youth Union will continue to take responsibility for maintaining hygiene, order and landscape according to the criteria of "bright - green - clean - beautiful".
By constructing lighting projects, the Son La Provincial Youth Union has contributed to affirming its role in building new rural areas, improving infrastructure, improving living standards and ensuring security in difficult areas.
