Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation Receives Encouragement in Cambodia

At the meeting, Head of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh reported on the delegation's performance as well as information on the delegation's activities. The athletes competed very well, exceeding the set medal target and temporarily holding the third place.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh also thanked the Vietnamese Embassy as well as the overseas Vietnamese community and Vietnamese businesses operating in Cambodia for always accompanying and encouraging the Vietnamese Disabled Sports Delegation at this year's congress.

Also at the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang congratulated the athletes and officials of the Vietnam Sports Delegation for exceeding the set target, and expressed his pride and joy at having the honor to represent all officials, staff of the embassy and the Vietnamese business community in Cambodia to visit and encourage the delegation. On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang also presented 6,000 USD, the amount contributed by the embassy staff and the Vietnamese business community, to congratulate the achievements of the Vietnam Sports Delegation for the Disabled at the 12th ASEAN Para Games.

Athletes of the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation are having a successful congress.

The Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation consists of 159 members, including 21 coaches and 122 athletes (2 guide athletes), competing in 8/14 sports at the 12th ASEAN Para Games: Athletics, Swimming, Weightlifting, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Judo and Boccia. Vietnam's target is to win 50 to 55 gold medals, being one of the four countries at the top of the medal table.

As of 5:00 p.m. on June 8, the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Delegation had won 63 gold medals, temporarily ranking third on the overall delegation rankings, after Indonesia and Thailand.
