On November 16, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly held a ceremony to honor the Elderly who are good at economics in 2023 with the message: "Promoting the role of the elderly who are good at economics, actively participating in digital transformation, green transformation, contributing to building a prosperous and happy country".
The 4th National Conference to honor outstanding elderly people with good economic performance, 2018-2023 period, with the message: "Promoting the role of elderly people with good economic performance, actively participating in digital transformation, green transformation, contributing to building a prosperous and happy country", is an important event to honor outstanding examples in the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example", representing more than seven million elderly people who are producers and traders, directly participating in economic development, making effective and practical contributions to the country's development.
In that context, to continue to protect and care for the elderly better and better, while promoting the position, role, intelligence, experience and mettle of the elderly in the cause of socio-economic development, building and defending the Fatherland, and promoting the emulation movement of the elderly who are good at economics.
At the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh said that this conference honored 273 outstanding elderly delegates with good economic performance, representing over 7 million elderly people participating in labor, production and business.
These are shining examples, determined to start a business, develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, enrich themselves legitimately, actively participate in ensuring social security in localities and units and pioneer in digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy. These groups and individuals have made many contributions to the cause of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the elderly and have been honored and awarded certificates of merit.
One of the shining examples of good economic development awarded by the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly with the title of "Outstanding Elderly Person with Good Economic Performance Nationwide" for the 4th time, 2018 - 2023 period is Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Lan Anh Company Limited.
It is known that in 1995, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong entered the business by establishing Nguyen Thi Kim private enterprise, the main activity of which was food and beverage business in Vung Tau city. In 1996, she returned to Hoa Long commune - Ba Ria town to invest in agriculture with the VAC model. At this time, although she was new to the business, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong contributed a lot to the economic development of the locality. Always caring, supporting and doing many volunteer works to contribute to Hoa Long commune and Ba Ria town.
In 2006, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong established Lan Anh LLC, which was renamed Lan Anh LLC in 2022, with 100% private capital. After nearly 20 years of operation, implementing the Government's policy of launching a movement for the entire population to build new rural areas, Lan Anh LLC has donated tens of thousands of square meters of land to the State and provided funding for rural traffic infrastructure. Lan Anh LLC has also boldly invested thousands of billions of VND in rural residential areas with the aim of joining hands with local authorities to implement the national target program on new rural construction.
"Since 2006, Ba Ria town area (now Ba Ria city) has been a sparsely populated area, rural infrastructure is not yet synchronized, and people's living conditions still face many difficulties. Lan Anh Company Limited has researched and pioneered the development of investment in residential areas in rural areas, in remote areas with the goal of developing new rural areas. Pioneering in building social housing, low-income housing and implementing the policies of the Party and the State, completing investment in infrastructure, social housing, and housing for low-income people in communes of Ba Ria city" Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong shared.
Thanks to the synchronous investment in the above projects, Lan Anh Company Limited has contributed to turning Hoa Long Commune, Long Phuoc Commune (Ba Ria City) and Nghia Thanh Commune (Chau Duc District) from a deserted, sparsely populated land into a livable place with a "Green-Clean-Beautiful" landscape environment, a closed residential area, synchronous infrastructure, and full essential services. Specifically, Lan Anh Company Limited has invested in projects in Hoa Long Commune (Ba Ria City) and Nghia Thanh Commune (Chau Duc District) with more than 600 social housing units and low-income housing units sold to civil servants and public employees with deferred payment and installment payments over many years.
A journey of a thousand miles for the poor
Starting from nothing, understanding the hardships of the poor, when successful in business, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong always worries and wants to contribute to helping the unfortunate, those in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances.
In 2020 and 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong donated more than 29 billion VND to the fight against the pandemic. "In the past 3 years, although the Company has encountered many difficulties, with the spirit of "giving rice and sharing clothes", not leaving the poor and disadvantaged behind, Lan Anh Company Limited is proud to have contributed 42 billion VND to the social security fund, the fund for the poor and joining hands to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. For me, giving is receiving more...".
Few people know that, in the midst of the most intense outbreak of COVID-19, witnessing many difficult situations standing on the edge of life, struggling to find food, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong made a decision that few people dared to make at that time: to make a journey of thousands of miles for the poor. She and two drivers traveled thousands of kilometers from Ba Ria - Vung Tau to Hanoi to support 10 billion VND for the epidemic prevention fund.
During the difficult economic period of 2022-2023, Lan Anh Company Limited supported the social security fund and the fund for the poor with 25 billion VND. In 2023 alone, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong and Lan Anh Company Limited supported the State with more than 6,000m2 of land for site clearance, compensation and resettlement to build a resettlement area in Hoa Long commune and build roads with a value of about more than 7 billion VND. At the same time, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong also supported the assets on the land worth 4.2 billion VND. The total value of support is more than 11 billion VND.
In addition, every year the company also builds solidarity houses for the poor and supports social security funds, traditional days of localities such as War Invalids and Martyrs Day, National Solidarity Day, Agent Orange Day, Vietnamese Women's Day, International Children's Day...
For her practical contributions and dedication to society and the community, in 2010, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the State. By the end of 2022, Lan Anh Company Limited was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal for the company and Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal (according to Decision No. 1139 dated October 5, 2022 of the President). In addition, Ms. Nguyen Nam Phuong has received many Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, Certificates of Merit from the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province... for her contributions to poverty reduction, new rural construction, COVID-19 prevention...
