Normally, when going fishing, fishermen need to bring a rod and a hook. But people in Da Nang only use a fishing line and a bottle and still catch a lot of fish from the river.

At Phu Loc bridge (Thanh Khe Tay ward, Thanh Khe district, Da Nang) where Phu Loc river flows into the sea, every day attracts dozens of anglers to come here to fish, not only for entertainment and fun but also to earn extra income.

According to anglers, fishing with bottles is very simple and anyone can do it. Instead of fishing with a rod and hook as usual, anglers here only need to use a spoonful of flour put in a cut-in-half bottle, with a little water and stir well, then drop it into the river, wait for the fishing line to vibrate, then the fish is hooked, the angler just needs to pull the line to get the fish.

Mr. Le Khoi (residing in Thanh Khe Tay ward, Thanh Khe district) said: Fishing is not only for entertainment but also helps him earn extra income. “I come here to fish from 2 pm because the fish usually feed the most at this time. Every day I can earn a few hundred thousand from fishing, today I was lucky to have someone buy it right after I finished fishing so I sold it right away,” Mr. Khoi said with a smile.

According to Mr. Khoi, the most popular fish caught this season are mullet, which usually lives along rivers and the coast. Once the fish has entered the bottle and eaten the bait, they cannot escape because the diameter of the plastic bottle is small and cannot turn around.

Wheat flour is a food that mullet really likes, so anglers use it as bait.

Many curious people come to see and buy fish directly caught from the river.

The anglers carefully hold the other end of the fishing line. When the fish enters the bottle, the fishing line will vibrate and the angler will pull the line to bring the fish to shore.
