According to anglers, fishing with plastic bottles is very simple and anyone can do it. Instead of fishing with a rod and hook as usual, anglers here simply put a spoonful of flour into a halved plastic bottle, add a little water, stir well, then drop it into the river. When the fishing line vibrates, the fish is hooked, and the angler just reels in the line to catch the fish.

Mr. Le Khoi (residing in Thanh Khe Tay ward, Thanh Khe district) said: Fishing is not only for recreation but also helps him earn extra income. “I come here to fish from 2 PM because the fish usually feed the most at that time. Every day I can earn several hundred thousand dong from fishing. Today I was lucky that someone bought my catch right away,” Mr. Khoi said with a smile.

According to Mr. Khoi, the most common fish caught this season is the mullet, which usually lives along rivers and coastlines. Once the fish are in the bottle and eating the bait, they cannot escape because the diameter of the plastic bottle is small, preventing them from turning around.
