Not Australia's Hillier, nor Senegal's Retba. This is a naturally pink reservoir in front of Gate No. 6, in Tan Hai Commune, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
Let’s join author Dinh Ngoc Bao to admire this surreal moment when the water in the lake turns purple-pink, through the photo album “Vietnam Pink Lake”. The photo series was sent by the author to participate in the Photo and Video Contest “Happy Vietnam”, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .
The phenomenon of pink water in the Reservoir in front of Sluice No. 6 is the strong growth of green algae D. Salina, causing the cell density to increase, at the same time in the cells accumulate a large amount of B-carotene pigment, this pigment has a reddish-pink color, making the water in the lagoon pink. The favorable environmental conditions for D. Salina to grow strongly and accumulate a lot of carotene pigment are high salinity, strong light and many nutrients in the water.
The water in this lake has a special pink color due to the bloom of green algae D.salina.
This pink water does not produce toxins and does not affect living things or humans. On the contrary, this type of algae is also a food source for aquatic organisms.
There has been a proposal to conserve and develop D.salina algae to create special tourist landscapes, create food for aquaculture, and make pharmaceuticals...
Hopefully this place will become a tourist attraction for visitors around the world in the future./.
