The meeting with the writer took place at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street on the morning of May 25.

On behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, poet Truong Nam Huong presented flowers to congratulate writer Doi Xuan Viet on his new brainchild. He also could not hide his emotions when reading the work. "I am especially impressed with the author's memories of his ancestors in the family. The author's grandfather, a Confucian scholar, was a famous herbalist in Quang Xuong - Thanh Hoa. He had a special love for his children and grandchildren. He taught his children and grandchildren very carefully and meticulously from eating habits, living habits to farming, educating his children and grandchildren to live virtuously, live well, live with respect for superiors and subordinates," poet Truong Nam Huong confided.

"The happiest thing is to return to your family. That is where your roots are..."

It is known that Ve noi nguon nguon is a memoir, a long story about a family that has gone through more than a century from when the country was still immersed in the long night of slavery until the country was completely independent. Through that, the book has recorded the contributions of the highly respected people in the family to society and to the family, which is also the reason why the author Doi Xuan Viet wrote this memoir.

The book also honors the author's ancestors who have built the family line, actively contributed to the development of the community and society, and left shining examples for descendants to follow, as well as being a source of motivation for future generations to strive and advance.

Also according to poet Truong Nam Huong: "The author's maternal grandfather was a minister and governor of Thanh Hoa province, one of the largest provinces in Vietnam. In addition to fulfilling his duties as a provincial official, he also contributed to reclaiming wasteland, establishing villages and hamlets, building a system of irrigation canals, contributing to turning a large area of wasteland and swamp into rice fields. Although he was a high-ranking official, he did not mind the muddy work of farming. He still rolled up his pants to plow, pull up seedlings, and work hard in the fields regardless of the sun or rain, working diligently like a real farmer. At over seventy years old, he still used a cane to go to the fields to check the rice and water. He had a special love for the land and rice plants."

Talking about the ancestors of the family, writer Doi Xuan Viet confided: "I always think of the great merit of the ancestors who built the country, expanded the territory, and created the heroic and beautiful Vietnam as it is today. Therefore, respecting the merit of the ancestors is the dignity of the generation that inherits history, so I decided to write this work."

Poet Le Minh Quoc affirmed: "Vietnamese culture always starts from the family tradition. There have been many writers who have exploited the beauty of the origin, through stories about the family line in some genres of memoirs, autobiographies... but perhaps with the memoir Returning to the Origin , I think that writer Doi Xuan Viet has touched the hearts of readers. He also inspired many writers who will continue to exploit this topic in the future."

Talking further with Thanh Nien reporters about the book, poet Le Minh Quoc said he was very moved by the image of the author's mother, who is always hard-working and patient, appearing in the work. "That mother represents millions of Vietnamese mothers who live to take care of their children and are devoted to their husbands. From the North, she had to wander to Hue, then once again return to the North, even though she faced a more difficult and volatile reality, but that mother still did not hesitate. Yes, because there is no greater happiness than when she returns to her family, her husband, her children. That is the origin...", the author of Ba me dan ngay thuc theo con confided.

Returning to the origin has many stages of life, parts of life associated with many major events of the country. The author also tells heartbreaking, tearful stories about people, fates that have suffered many disadvantages, losses, how they stood up, how they fought for a peaceful and better life. The suffering and bitterness of life did not push them to negative actions but helped them strive towards good things, continuing to make positive contributions to society and the country.

The memoir also includes pages about Mr. Cai Tong in the French colonial government, a great landowner who became enlightened about the revolution right from the time the Party was founded. His house was where the first Communist Party cell in Quang Xuong (Thanh Hoa) was established and operated. This character also had three of his four sons join the revolution and the house has now been recognized by Thanh Hoa as a provincial-level revolutionary historical relic.
